Best private company data software? Pitchbook, Crunchbase, AlphaSense

Which one of these are the best for VC / growth equity? I'm in venture and we use CapIQ for public info, our own proprietary expert network, and pitchbook for private company info. Curious as to what other people use and if any of these are noticeably better or worse than the rest

Basically a group of experts in specific industries who are legally allowed to inform us on specifics within that industry. An example would be a biotech/pharma hedge fund having a network of medical professionals who they can reach out to ask questions about complex medical concepts. It’s a great way to quickly learn about an industry from someone who’s spent decades working in it.

Wow that’s cool, didn’t know this existed. Are there examples of expert network companies that various groups use, and how much do each of these sessions cost on a project?

Also, why are these expert network folk allowed to legally teach people stuff versus anyone else who is knowledgeable about a subject? Wouldn’t anyone be able to explain something if they know a decent amount about it? Take pharma for example, you have expert network people, but your neighbor could also be a pharmacist, they’d both be able to walk through something in this field right?

In growth and recently demo'd a number of platforms. Thought that grata was the best- extensive coverage and great searchability.

expert networks are firms that set up paid calls between research teams (pe/hf/consulting/corporates) and vetted industry practitioners to sanity-check assumptions fast (market structure, pricing, buyer behavior, competitors, etc.). anyone can be “knowledgeable,” but the network adds sourcing, scheduling, and compliance screening so calls stay mnpi-safe and avoid confidential employer info. pricing varies a lot by seniority/topic/provider (usually hourly rates + possible platform fees), so best is to request a quote for your use case. commonly referenced providers include glg, alphasights, guidepoint, third bridge, and silverlight research.
