Dilemmas! Conflicting timelines of VC & PE recruiting is leaving me with some tough choices. What do you think?

Alright, I seem to be having a bit of a dilemma. I'm currently doing sector-specific work, and I want to recruit for a sector specific VC or PE fund in the same sector.

I'd rather work at the sector VC fund, but interviews for the sector PE funds will come before VC interviews, which will be more sporadic on an as-needed basis.

Now, I've made a number of contacts in the VC sector funds at which I'd like to work, but don't know how to broach the topic with them. When PE interviews roll around, do I ask the VC contacts if I can interview with them?

If not, do you see any other ways out of this interview timeline dilemma?
