Family Office Salary Expectations

Expecting to join a family office with $3-5B AUM out of undergrad on VC team, curious what salaries typically look like as an analyst 1 at similar firms. MCOL city on the east coast.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, for a family office with $3-5B AUM, typical Year 1 analyst compensation can vary depending on the specific role and location. For reference, in asset management or private equity roles at similar firms, Year 1 analysts often see salaries around $65k-$75k, with bonuses ranging from 5%-10%. Given that you're joining the VC team, the structure might be similar, but bonuses could vary depending on the firm's performance and investment outcomes.

In a medium cost of living (MCOL) city, this range should provide a reasonable expectation.

I’m assuming ops, most family offices of that size wouldn’t hire someone for actual research/portfolio construction out of undergrad (minimum of a few years of work in a similar role elsewhere would be normal even for a junior analyst). If ops, then the bot is right. If it is indeed on the research side then over $100k all in is very possible. Good opportunity, good luck!

Have one more year, working with team rn and joining them in summer. Didn't really go out looking for the opportunity, was networking with a few larger firms and one of the guys I talked to referred me to the firm and I networked with most of the team and got an offer.
