North Bridge Growth Equity
Anyone have any insight to North Bridge Growth Equity? (http://nbge.northbridge.com/Default.asp)
Mostly interested in whether or not they have a sourcing model due to theirs roots at Advent / Summit / TA. I'd imagine that they would employ more associates if that were the case.
Of course, would also be interested in lifestyle and the general culture of the firm. Recognizing the firm is relatively small and relatively new, there probably aren't many people out there with first hand knowledge, but in the off-chance there are, thanks.
definite sourcing model..cold calling/networking
its very similar to every other growth equity firm, you eat what you kill, no face time, etc.
senior guys all have great backgrounds, they are affiliated with NB Venture Partners which has a great track record..
Cornelius, thanks for the insight. Out of curiousity, are you speculating or do you know for sure? I'm trying to decide whether or not to use my connections to interview or if I would be wasting my and theier time.
i knew about the sourcing beforehand as they stated it in their job posting.
i found out about the rest through my interview with them. the sourcing wasn't something what I wanted to do just yet but went through the interview process anyway to collect business cards. the guys seemed pretty cool and they had great deal experience prior to joining. the principals survived through the bubble burst which is when they started their careers and i thought that was pretty impressive.
at the end of the day, if sourcing is not for you, i wouldn't pursue this opportunity further.
Bump. Would love to hear about the culture (lifestyle and hours) and compensation (base and bonus), if anyone has any idea. I know it's a sourcing model but would like to hear other information.
Bump - would also be interested.

Any insight into culture, associate work, how much % of time is spent on sourcing, pay would be greatly appreciated. There's literally nothing online that I could find about them.
Feel free to PM if you want, but posting would be helpful for others.
they don't have associates on the venture side.. do you mean growth equity?
Yes, I mean Growth Equity, will edit the post to fix.
Don't know the group, but my experience is that GE shops generally are heavy on sourcing. Given that, I'd guess base is lower than buyout funds with higher bonus potential.
Thanks for the help, anybody else have any other information? I heard it's 70-80% sourcing and the rest execution, which is typical for growth equity. What kind of skills does one expect to learn? Does this type of role set you up for a good career in tech/VC?
Bump. Does anyone have additional info on culture? Also, would be interested to know if it truly is 70-80% sourcing
Don't have any recent data on culture but one look at where the senior guys came from (Summit/TA) should be enough to tell you it's got a heavy sourcing model.
70 to 80% sourcing. There have been a bunch of recent departures.
