Thiel launches venture capital group focused on focus on late-stage investing
Whilst I am really not interested in Peter Thiel himself or in his class which seemed to create some buzz here and there I find his new initiative much more interesting:
"Peter Thiel has launched a new venture capital firm, starting with a $402m fund to invest in global technology companies, just one month after the prominent investor sold $640m worth of Facebook shares in the social network’s initial public offering. Mithril Capital Management, the new firm, will focus on later-stage investing to enable private companies to stay private longer and avoid seeking capital in the public markets before they are ready." - Source: FT
I would think that typically late stage are rarely good deals to capture value, no ?You'd rather get in early in company lifecycle (startup) or very late when the company is struggling (underperforming, turnaround...)
