VC London Pay
Looking for analyst/associate comps for VC pay - would be even better if you could split by structure, i.e. base + bonus + carry (if any)

Hi Investment Analyst in VC, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)
More suggestions...
I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.
Too dependent on fund size mate.
Small funds you will get a world of difference in pay vs the bessemers and seqouia's
Appreciate the reply - that sounds reasonable. Would you happen to know some comps for the larger European players? (Think Sequoia, Atomico, Index etc)
Its been about 10 months since i've heard these salaries but for Aso1
Atomico 100 base 50% bonus (might be 110 now?)
accel 120 base 100% bonus
I think bessemer / index / seqouia / LSVP are probably similar to accel but not sure, would love to see data points

Not to sure on the carry aspect but I am aware of some VC salaries,
Balderton: 70k plus bonus and some carry very tiny.
really AUM dependant bigger funds offering better salaries
Thanks for the data point.
Interesting - re the Balderton datapoint:
I assume that's for Associate 1 level, i.e. right after banking?
Could you shed some light on how salary progresses from there, i.e. at IM / Principal level?
That Balderton datapoint is incorrect (assuming we’re talking about Associate pay). ‘Market’ base for Associate 1 at Tier 1 funds in London is £100-120k, with Balderton at the higher end of this. It is correct about the small bonus and carry. Most others pay ~100% bonus and several pay carry at Associate level that is worth high six figures for target fund returns (3x).
Source: I work at a Tier 1 VC in London and have friends at all other top funds so can speak for their comp.
Thank you, this is super helpful. Pay is much higher than I expected
Joining a top shop in London and can confirm this is correct.
The other comment referring to 70k may have been referring to an analyst position, right out of undergrad (some firms, not all, have these)
im talking analyst pay but go on
source: I'm also an an analyst in London
Thanks for this.
Trying to benchmark with MM PE London.
What have VC uplifts, if any, been over the last 2 years or so?
In terms of most recent fund size, Balderton is roughly in line with many UK MM PE houses so a useful benchmark (even if larger AUM). Basically, how has that £100 - 120k market benchmark evolved compared to 2 years ago?
Jumping on this, could you please give some names on the funds? I have been in contact with some headhunters and they mentioned me 80/100 as range for growth equity shops. Thanks :)
