Hey BucketForehead, what a lonely thread. I'm here since nobody responded ...so maybe one of these discussions will help:

Any roles in mind? I went from CA at a BB/Wirehouse to a wholesaler at an AM. Was not worth it and would not recommend. A real PM role though, yes definitely worth it.
Why not worth it?
You'll make better money in the long term as an advisor, and you'll have a much easier sale depending on what you're slinging. Plus, you keep what you kill, vs a wholesaler where you're working for the man and your "book" is worthless at the end.
If you're looking for a different experience, sure, you'll probably be able to take the foot off the gas and coast a bit easier, but I'd rather be a successful advisor than a successful wholesaler 10/10 times.
Get the CFA charter and then move assuming you are trying to be a PM.
