bugattiYeah I agree with fudbox, I know two people who did PWM internships with ML--one of them left after the third week because it was so boring, the other stuck with it but agreed that it was not a particularly beneficial experience

if you leave after the 3rd week, are you still allowed to put it on ur resume

Sure. You can do whatever you want with your resume.

However, if you only worked part-time for 3 weeks and it just happens to cross over months (for example, late june to early july), it would be a fairly dishonest to put:

Summer Intern (or Summer Analyst) June 2009 - July 2009 Merrill Lynch Private Wealth Management

or maybe I am just being anal. Honestly, if it is that short and part-time, I would leave it off.

It usually helps to have a connection with the firm. In addition, most of these positions are taken by students finishing up their sophomore year. I would think that the best way to go about this, if you have no other options (such as a local contact), would be to call the office in which you're interested and see if they have anything. This position is not likely to be available via OCR.

You should know, too, that this ends up being mostly a resume booster for sophomores. You are going to have to really build up a role for yourself in the summer if you hope to do anything particularly productive or interesting.
