Apparently PJT Partners Only Think Blacks Are Diverse

I am all for programs that aim to aid underprivileged or underrepresented groups gain access to careers that have traditionally been monopolized by white men.

But upon perusing the PJT Partners careers site I came upon a posting for their 2021 Diversity Insight Program from which I have taken the below quote.

"Eligibility: Students who identify as Black in their first year of a 3-year university or second year of a 4-year university. Expected graduation in 2023."

It seems ironic that while looking for 'diverse' candidates they aren't truly valuing diversity or searching for it at all, but instead appear to be trying to fulfill quotas or curate an image.

This is funny, when its a for diversity program that does not suit you or your background, its directly a no-sense, PR...

Most banks only try to fulfill quotas, is it good? Ofc its not, but this is the game and you are still getting a lot of privilege that other people who deserve are not getting

Again with your statement "traditionally been monopolized by white men" you are forgetting about all those low-middle class families who got no shot but its clear that you dont give a fuck about them

The OP of this post just enjoys pulling shit out from his ass. Maybe OP can tell us what "truly valuing diversity" means. Question for OP: Do you think all the Black employees at PJT are underqualified? That they're there just for shits and giggles?

"Markets can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent."

AnoQ

...or maybe black people are just the specific target of this particular program...?

Why are people on WSO so quick to play the victim and have such chips on their shoulders? Goddamn. I feel like there's no possible way so many of you are THIS insufferable IRL. There's simply no way.

My favorite thing this year is the exposure of the snowflakes that represent the "woke conservative" tent of Fox News style of rhetoric peddled by Trump and his cronies. These people are as much the weak little betas as the "left" that they claim to hate so much. It's a true example of seeing yourself in what you hate.

Funniest

You just have to identify as black. There is no objective truth.

Joking aside, that's exactly my point. There are more white people in those sports because they self-select into them, just like how black people self-select into basketball and football. Same thing happens in all these lucrative fields of finance, tech, etc. This is the more likely cause of discrepancies in these fields (not the discrimination boogeyman), so I don't think diversity programs are really needed.

If you studied technicals and networked instead of making useless posts maybe you wouldn't be worried about losing your seat to black kids.

Which group of people is considered more diverse:

A group of Americans of different races

A group of whites from different European countries

Only one of these groups is severely underrepresented in the US, which is the point of these programs. 15% of the global population is Chinese, that doesn't mean Chinese people are greatly underrepresented in US finance because only 3% are Chinese.

LMAO

Is this what happens when the rich Hispanic kid, whose parents are foreign diplomats and applies through diversity portals (we all know these kids), does when he doesn't get a free handout?! Sad! Maybe have some sympathy for the poor white kid who grinds his ass off next time you make a pro-forced racial "diversity" post. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

I am a non-black diversity and I see no problem in this. If you feel bitter there are thousands of investment banks in NY that never have any kind of diversity programs and you are more than welcomed to apply to those banks.

This post is a perfect example of fake news: someone (generally right wing like OP but not always) posts an out-of-context fact then applies WILD assumptions and conclusions to it in order to support a specific world view that there is some conspiracy against the poster. In this case, OP posted language from a London program, applied traditional american diversity groups, then speculated that the bank is...idk, surgically targeting diversity groups in order to hit specific quotas? Then the OP says something in complete bad faith like "I'm ALL for x BUT..."

It's like we at WSO got visited by the OANN fairy.

Generally right wing? Liberal media does this all the time (saying this as someone who reads liberal media , not that I got that from OANN.)

I think these specific stipulations are a bit odd because PJT has dozens of VP-or higher Black employees but not a single Hispanic one. Don't understand why they cut Hispanics out all of a sudden.
