Berenberg 2020 Assessment Centre (Superday)

Hi all,

I found out today that I have progressed onto an AC (Superday) for an insight week. This is short notice as the AC is running on Zoom on Friday. I am a 1st-year student and this is my first experience of an AC of any kind.

The email stated that there will be 2x 30 mins interviews during the day, along with other activities.

So does anybody have any advice on how to prepare for this in such a short time and also what to wear for the day?

Hi Reform, no, I never sleep and so I can respond to any lonely threads (like this one) at all hours of the night. Impressive, I know ;-)

I hope those threads give you a bit more insight.

Sure, I quite enjoyed the day but it was tough. Mine only consisted of 2 interviews because of COVID and it being online, but here are some points:

1. interview 1 was with a partner at the bank, was more of a conversation but he questioned me about my background in accounting and other stuff such as Bloomberg and valuing companies so I'd make sure they're well versed.

2. Interview 2 was with 2 associates, not sure if the same in the US but they played good cop bad cop and grilled everything on your resume so make sure you are able to defend it all with good reasons etc. I had one poor grade in high school which they grilled me for, basically seeing how well you cope under the pressure. They also asked for 2 stock pitches, a short and a long position. Use a sector you know for this as they didn't know too much about mine so the follow up questions were easy. Make sure you're also well versed in the markets and current conditions, also touch up on a problem in the world that you're passionate about, but try and relate it back to finance.

Any more questions just DM me.
