Bespoke Suits and Shirts in Bangkok or Hanoi

Straight to Sukhumvit Road. A lot of choice, and good quality. Btw, there's an image that comes in my mind whenever I think about Bangkok: at the very beginning of the trip a lot off ppl without luggage, at the end at least 3 out of 4 ppl with fancy suits and a tons of luggage full of shirts, suits and so on. I was stunned!

Tom's, Sukhumvit Soi 8. Contact them before you go and they'll send a car to your hotel. Don't go to the other "Tom's" in a different part of town and whatever you do definitely don't let the sketchy Indian guys hanging outside no name shops pull you in.

Was there last year and paid about $1100 for 2 suits, a blazer, and 5 shirts, all custom made. A bit more than some of the other places in BKK but great quality and stoll a hell of a lot cheaper than what you'd pay on the US/UK. Also included having most of my order shipped back to the US

I went to one in Bangkok that I really liked called Pinky's. It was located off Sukhumvit Road by the Phloen Chit stop. It seemed like a lot of foreign executives were buying there. Great quality but also more expensive than a lot of other places in the city.

If you're in Vietnam and get the chance, go down to Hoi An and visit Yaly Couture. The whole town itself is full of tailors, with Yaly being one of the better ones. Also it's not bad to lie on the beach for three days while your suit is made!

Don't know about Bangkok, but tailors in Hanoi are not bad. Make sure they know exactly what you want and keep a close eye on them. I had some experience with them doing shoddy jobs in the past. You will be paying a premium over market price in Hanoi but still very competitive when compared to NYC. Too bad you won't be in Saigon, i have a fabric guy and a good tailor there.

Ha I remember taking numerous trips to Bangkok and having to wait for my father to get his suits measured.

Gulati (name of store) is incredible. The young guy there's name is Sam Gulati, run by a group of Sikhs. Would strongly recommend for highest quality suits and shirts you can probably find anywhere. It is about 40 a shirt and 300-400 for a suit fully bespoke (or more depending on preferences), can ship to you in the United States, everyone speaks english, freedom to design and by far the nicest clothing I have.

EDIT: Dont even consider paying $1,000 a suit in Thailand. You would have to be out of your mind. Just be careful because there are a million of these places, I noticed alot of them werent as high quality, so good to ask.

In BKK, I go to Narin Couture (tailor was trained in France) or Rajawongse Brothers (seems to be very popular with expats). Both their suits are top-notch, though Narin is much pricier, I think the lowest I got was 40,000 baht, versus 15,000 baht at Raj. If you're also getting some tailored shirts at Raj, make sure they make the collar button a bit looser. Ive had one of my shirts for almost two years and the button hole is still stiff and a bitch to button up the collar.

Been to Hanoi a couple of times and I've personally got 2 suits from there. My personal go-to tailor is Thaicom (location here). This is your typical inter-generational tailor shop and I've always received compliments on the 2 suits I got since their cuts are more on the slimmer side, which is great if you have an athletic body. Be careful when you pick the fabric, though, because my impression was that most of their fabric are more summer-y and tropical, which is fine for me since I live in SoCal, but I wouldn't want to experience the Northeast's winter in that.

Does anyone know any good places to go for this in Shanghai? I'm heading over soon and looking to pick up a few good quality suits while I'm there. I know the general area to go to but if anyone has any specific reccomendations that would be great.
