Citi online numerical reasoning test?
Has anyone done the online numerical reasoning test for Citi?
Heard it is a bit different from other online tests (Elements, not SHL), and that it is a bit more difficult.
Share your experiences if you have completed it?
Thanks!
You are doing this in May? Are you in Australia?
Yes, they use Elements, which is very different. The bottomline is that you really need to crack the answer down because mere approximation will not work (you may be given 14 choices). Also, you have a timer per question rather than a timer for the whole test. I think it was something like 90 seconds for the first question in a set, and 75 seconds for the remainder questions within the set. Each set contains 3 or 4 questions.
If you are fast with the calculator/Excel you should not have a problem. I found it residually more straightforward than the SHL.
One thing that you need to bear in mind is that in the AC you will get a "verification test". When I got my offer from Citi, I remember half of the candidates failing this one and repeating it after their interviews (interestingly, only the Asian students- and me- had passed it in their first attempt).
I hope it helps.
edit: Obs, I saw you are in South Africa. That makes sense.
Hi Jack, was the test exactly the same?
Harder than SHL, not too bad otherwise. The time issue is worse than anything else.
jack_yeah is absolutely spot on. Just accepted my SA offer.
The questions you do online are pretty shocking as the time ticking down throws you. Ignore the practice questions, they're too easy and don't replicate the real thing. My online ones were stuff like phone tariffs and random spreadsheet stuff (find the variance, percentage, average of the information.) They overload you with info. Its doable. Practice getting fast with you calculator and lists of numbers for the above info. You have 5 days to do it once you get the email.
The verification test during the AC is just to see if it was actually you who did it. Not sure how much they care about it. Its only 6 questions (few parts to each q). Mine was on bus time tables and finding how many buses in a specific time. (again clock ticking down as you do these.) and then the same excel spreadsheet stuff.
Anyway, best of luck. Have fast fingers and stay calm.
did you receive an email after completing the online test? I have completed it and it just says business review. whats the normal procedure
Thanks alot for the info. Clarifies alot!
Any idea how many required to pass?
I just did it. I answered10 (was 100% sure of them)... made a bit of a cock up on the 1, so basically I got 9/12.
Would 9/12 be enough to pass? Lets say I didnt get all the ones I answered right, would 8/12 (67%) be enough?
Overall I though the test was manageable, just did not like their time per Q, I could have spent about 20seconds on 1 Q, and other Q's required a bit more time.
Don't worry about it anymore. Its over. You should hear from them within a day or two.
if you dont hear back within 1-2 days for an interview it means you got dinged?

I got invited to take the online numerical test for Citi fixed income SA (London). Has anyone been through this test want to share what its like? Also, what can I expect from Citi afterwards if I pass their numerical test
Most of the numerical tests I have taken are actually almost identical across banks. There are a bunch of graphs and charts, and you have to calculate numbers out of it.. fairly easy.
Ling~
because i just took one for Citi ir, and i'm pretty sure i didn't do too well...
i hate that they don't let you do back to a question at the end or something.
I took it yesterday - I didn't feel that confident, I thought it could have gone either way. How long before they notify you if you move on to the next stage?
have they contacted you?
What does AC stand for?
