Drug Test @ BlackRock SF summer analyst position

Hi guys,

I received an offer recently from BlackRock for a 2017 summer analyst position (software engineering) at their SF office. In the offer letter, it states that I need to pass a drug screen/test.

I'm wondering if BlackRock makes you take the test within a few days of accepting the offer, or closer to the summer when I actually start. I rolled on NYE so if I have to take a hair test within the next few days, I might be kind of screwed (buffer of

Also, can anyone confirm that they only tests hair and urine, and not nails?

Thanks for the help!

Chill out. I only commented because the company I'm referencing is another top 5 asset management firm, so the protocol is probably similar. And you're an idiot because you couldn't take a break from drugs until you got a job. I don't care what field you work in and how likely or unlikely it may be that you get drug tested. Why even risk it? Career > "rolling" with the cool kids on NYE.

I'm not in finance (software engineering, maybe read the post before you go about ranting and raving in a thread) so I wasn't expecting to be drug tested at all for summer programs. But I did some research into BlackRock after the invitation to the superday and actually found the company quite interesting. Really appreciate your contribution to my thread though, never really thought of not doing drugs. What a novel and genius idea, you deserve to be a billionaire.

Yeah what would you like to know? I got a call within a couple days of interviewing. I got my offer letter within a week. The offer letter said that I would be contacted within 60 days of my start date for a background screen done by Hireright (a third party company), so I assume I'm going to be doing the hair test sometime in April or May.

Not sure if this was what they did before, but the offer letter I got mentioned that Hireright would contact me by email within 60 days of my start date about a background screen, so I assume I'm going to get tested in April or May. They might have changed up the process this year.
