EMEA M&A Analyst Resume

Hi All,

I'd appreciate some constructive feedback on my resume. I am looking to start as a 2013 M&A Analyst.

Previous version was mildly ineffective, with no more than 15% of applications getting a further interview invitation (BarCap, RBS, and BCG) but a good few rejections from others.

Thanks a bunch!

You worked at JPM - did you land a FT offer? May be worth putting 'outcome: full-time offer' or something. That way they dont assume you got dinged.

I would tailor the CV a bit more tbh - its not really clear what you are aiming for. I'm surprised it got through BCG no offence. Do you have a contact?

Try splitting the work exp/leadership exp. Work exp > EC's at uni. And expand on the JPM internship a bit esp on the deal you worked on. You were assigned - great - but what did you do?

Theres also a lack of results in your intern experiences.

Why have you got '3rd' next to 80% for the Corp Finance module? I'm assuming that means the 3rd highest in the class? I would just leave this out until the interview stage. Remember they take 30 seconds to read the CV. 3rd may be misinterpreted!

Would try to rephrase some bullets - lots of communicating with people to secure budgets but not much else.

Are you applying for FT roles? I would apply for internships if I was you.... FT recruiting is crap!

Harsh comments but I'm hoping it will help. :)

Hi there,

Thanks for some very helpful comments!

Let me know what you think about the revised CV: http://www.razume.com/documents/28517

In regards to your questions: 1) MA is a 4-year undergrad programme offered by selected UK universities. MSc is a 1yr postgrad. 2) No FT offer at JPM - strong exit review but no hiring 2) BCG invitation without any prior contacts

Competition never sleeps. Then again, chances are that neither do you.

You must've had some serious contacts at JPM.
