ER internship without taking a finance class?
Hey guys,
I'm a sophomore and I got an ER internship offer from an investment firm. The thing is, although I will be finishing my first financial accounting class with an A, I haven't had any classes in finance. (not even Principles of Finance) Do you think I can be a "good" intern with this limited knowledge?
How can I learn anything meaningful doing my job? What skillsets/knowledge/attitude is required to be a successful sophomore ER intern?
Thanks a ton!
BUMP
When I recruited, everyone was a lot more focused on a solid accounting foundation rather than anything else. Use your free time to self study some valuation techniques and you should be fine.
We don't care about your knowledge in when you are a sophomore intern. All you need to be is detail-orientated, show initiative, and be willing to learn. If you don't understand something just ask.
Thanks. Can you explain a little more about detail-oriented?
Double check everything. Then once you are done with that, check it one more time before handing off any work. Also, important: Never make the same mistake twice. especially if it is a stupid mistake.
Just practice excel.
How does Excel help you in ER? I don't know how to do valuation yet.
