Found job - delete recruiters & add rejectors?

Hi guys

What are the thoughts about connecting with people from companies which in the end, rejected me as candidate (great feedback though)? in each scenario it was lack of post qualified experience that got me, but otherwise great feedback...would be interested in staying in touch in case future opportunities arose again...

Thanks for advice.

Regards.

Interesting. Have you actually noticed any benefits from this though? For the most part, my LinkedIn is primarily people who I actually know and would vouch for. There are 2 or 3 people which I wouldn't, but they're people like my best friend's brother and not worth the drama of not accepting. When I'm looking at someone I check the quality of our mutual connections. I would assume someone would see you're only connected through a recruiter (and a so-so one at that) and treat you as the general population in their mind.

keep them...you never know when you might need their help. on a side note, i removed a recruiter once and literally within 24 hours had a request from the same recruiter to re-connect. i think it was his way of saying hey buddy i know what you did, because i accepted it and then later discovered that he removed me lol. there are apps out there that send notifications if someone deletes you. so just a general word of caution when removing people.

also, idk about adding people who rejected you during interviews. the only time i'd even consider doing that is if i was on a serious job hunt search and wanted to see if they knew of any other opportunities/contacts. ballsy move, but could work.

You'll likely only get to a role you want by using your own resources, but keep them - you never know when they have something you'll find interesting.

God I'd love to delete (literally and figuratively) a lot of recruiters - no upside though.

as a recruiter..... I will add some advice I give folks - find the top 2-3 recruiters in your space... get to know them and stay in touch over the years if your career stays in the same space. I agree most recruiters suck but the ones that are good - are real good. Get to know those and take their call from time to time - they may have some info or a role you can not find on your own. Not always but if they get it right once and get you in a role you could not get yourself - its worth the ones you ignore. Also if you are not talking to a partner or someone fairly high with the firm - you can expect it to be a shit show with someone fresh out of school smiling and dialing

questions is, how to tell whether someone is truly good unless they are consistently bringing you opportunities which you'd be interested in and are attainable? i've found that the ones i want to keep in my contacts are those who offer me unique opportunities in general (ie no overlap with other recruitment firms) and those who saw faith in me and put me up for competitive positions.

also, why do they all want to know where im going once i tell them that i've got a job (without specifying company) now and ask to be taken off their mailing lists? im paranoid that they will try and contact that company and offer them a competing candidate for a lower salary xD

Hear you bro. I've had headhunters (purportedly reputable) who never gave me the time of day call me once i've landed somewhere asking if i could help them get the mandate to replace me from my old firm.

I'm gunna say it again, we should have a headhunter review section on this site.
