GS Asia Super Day

has anyone been to GS asia Super day in US?
i am a chinese student studying in UK, so i need a visa in order to attend the interview? but it is on the 3rd of Feb which is only a week to go, and GS still hasn't sent me the documents i need. I am wondering can i still obtain the visa b4 the interview? has anyone been thru the same process as me?

I'm not sure, but I doubt that you need a visa for such a short-term visit. I don't know the policy for the U.S., but when I visited abroad (Asia), the policy was 30 days+ a Visa is required. 7 days+ registration is required, but no Visa.

b, what passport are you holding? the HR guy in GS told me that i might need a visa because im holding a PRC passport, still need to further check with the US embassy. I really wanna go 2 NY, no matter if i can get the offer or not, it will b a great experience to visit the big apple:)

haha no, i did my 2nd round in boston even tho im in texas. i remember a guy from LSE and he applied to GIR or IBD... not sure.

as for me, i applied to GIR and IBD and got 2nd round interviews for both. ive been asking around if ppl have their online app status changed to something else because i need to start planning for the trip as well... for personal leisure reasons... last time it took them forever to send out the email... for example, the interview was on monday and i got my email on thursday before the monday interview and another guy didnt get his email until friday... so go figure. dont worry, give it until wednesday-ish... but im getting anxious myself

txlnghrns, my online app status never changed since the 1st round, so i think better anticipate for the email.

btw i received the email yesterday, but i don't think i will be able to attend the superday this saturday, as it will take me at least 5 days to get a visa. so i think they will arrange me a telephone interview for the final round as well. to be honest i am anxious, as i really cant fully show the stuff i wanna present during a telephone interview... my interaction with the interviewer during last round was terribly poor..

anyway thanks very much for your help, i will hope for the best and prepare for the worst... and wish you a very successful application! hope can meet u in hk this summer:)

Was anyone invited to the Superday on Feb 2/3? I had my phone interview some ages ago (around 15-20 days) for IBD, but since then haven't heard from them. What do you think, guys? silence=rejection?

Sorry for hijacking the thread.

When did you guys apply for the internship and when did you have your first/second rounds please? I applied by my school deadline, but have not heard from them since.

Good luck with your interview/super day and the visa!

securities here

got an email from HR. it says that they are making the final decisions, im currently on hold and they'll get back to me as soon as the guys finish making decisions. good news? shitty news? neutral news??

i hope the securities guys are slower than the IBD guys and that i get an offer. fuck fuck fuck. im freaking out.

recruiting season sucks!

Probably not good for GS, as not many people will turn down GS (purely for the brand name) unless its for a firm such as UBS (which is equally strong in Asia, but I would still take GS for its recognition in the States). You won't see people picking MER or LEH over GS, so the yield for the firm tends to be pretty good.
