HKUST MSc Financial Math vs. CUHK MSc Finance?
I'm currently in grad school for computer science (top 20) and should be graduating with an MS at the end of the spring (my thesis will be finance-related). Prior degree was electrical engineering from a top 5 school.
My goal is to apply for Finance PhD programs in December 2010, but before that I want to get some more finance exposure and research experience.
My options right now are the HKUST MSc in Financial Math (full-time) and the CUHK MSc in Finance (part-time, but with the extra time I may be able to get research published). I don't plan on getting a PhD in Asia by any means, I just know some people there I can do research with. And I'm hoping that maybe the international experience will set me apart from the vast numbers of other Finance PhD applicants?
Which program is better preparation for applying to top-tier Finance PhD programs? Anyone graduated from either of these programs and have any comments about placement, job-wise or in academia?
Depending on where you want to apply, I would say that HKUST is the strongest brand in Hong Kong.
BradZ is right. HKUST has better brand name than CUHK. I would recommend HKUST or HKU over CUHK. I say this because I've done my SA in undergrad in HK and heard what ppl say about those schools, Chiang.

i have recently relocated to HK and though i have almost 6 years of work experience i will be doing a full time course in HOng Kong.
Reviews / feedback on the above 2 courses will be highly appreciated. anyone graduated or studying these 2 programs .. comments on placements/ course content/ practical aspect of the course.. pls guide..
