Houlihan Lokey Interview help

I have two interviews with HL this Tuesday and I was wondering if anyone could weigh in on their interview process... they are for the corp fin and fin adv services...

Follow the Vault Guide To Financial Interviews for a lot of the questions. You will want to know the financial statements and how a change on one will change the others. Valuation is important. Know how to calculate EBITDA, unlevered FCF, etc... Why do you do EV to EBITDA instead of equity value to EBITDA? Make sure to know #7 on the vault guide, it comes up frequently.

Best of luck, let me know how it goes!

Thanks a lot for your help! This is extremely helpful; that being said, im going off the BIWS guide so anyway you could post that #7 from the vault guide you're talking about?

Thanks in advance

This is big - HL are known for their technical written exam. Know how the 3 statements tie together.

if you like it then you shoulda put a banana on it

If you know accounting, you will do very well. HL tends to ask a ton of accounting type questions. I don't have the guide in front of me so I can't copy it in here, I just remember that it was an important one to know. But know the technicals and you will do great.

Walk me through a basic LBO

Depreciation affecting the three statements

Accretion/Dilution/Treasury Method (important for CF as they focus on M&A)

Meaningfulness of different multiples (equity vs. total stakeholders, etc.)

Style of Communication?

Personal view on forward trends in the market

WHY HL

WHY CF/FAS

Last two are probably most important, but you can't screw up your technicals

Thanks for your help, do you know this from your own experience interviewing with the firm?
