How to lateral to sr aso / vp position in PE
Might be getting ahead of myself here, but I’ve become increasingly convinced the MBA route is a waste of time and money.
Ik many investment professionals do the tried and proven 2-2-2 route to ascend into more senior pe roles, but what if you’re at a fund that requires an MBA to move up and you don’t want to pay for one (tuition + op cost is exhorbitant). I signed for a program UMM / MF and think maybe I should’ve gone to a partner-track fund, but they seem to be few and far between.
For those who have successfully lateraled into sr aso / vp roles at partner-track funds without b-school / directly after a program, how did you do it? Is there a set of known funds that are inclined to take experienced laterals at this level?
Very interested as well, in same position as op
Plenty of firms don't require MBA, including many of the top megafunds.
