I might be autistic...

Clickbait title right? I have interviewed with every shop from the middle market to elite boutique and struck out on 20+ superdays and 50+ processes in general. I have been dinged by Tobin & Co. (not even joking - for an internship) and Evercore at a superday (2nd place finish per MD, not sure if that was a lie), but ended up somewhere closer to the latter. There was no identifiable pattern in offers clearly, until I received one yesterday...

Usually it's my GPA (3.3) at a semi-target, which doesn't have a great story other than I found IB late in the game, that dings me instantly. I have gotten 2 offers over the course of several years between FT and lateral recruiting. Why might you ask?

Both of the offers I got, I pulled an all-nighter prior to the superday and was severely sleep deprived leading up to them for one reason or another. I stopped caring about the interviews and just wanted to make it through to go pass out.

It surely can't be a coincidence, but I find myself much more vibrant as a person when sleep deprived and happy during interviews. You could be talking about your wife's funeral and I would have a big stupid smile on my face. If you're a Dale Carnegie fan, here's another datapoint to add to the list.

This tells me 1 thing; I might be autistic.

Thank you for listening to my TED talk.

I just get blasted before interviews - always helps to get the creative juices flowing

You’re really lucky to get offers in IB with that 3.3 GPA.

Tried to do an internship so I could use it to land a FT gig.

I was told "I didn't sound convincing enough as to why IB?" lmfao.

I didn't mind eating money because I worked during school anyways.

the one offer I got was when I had given up all hope lol. I actually think it's the opposite for me. was probably too energetic before and after just more chill all around. who knows.

My first offer was a lot like that. I was so down in the dumps, but sleep deprivation made me so happy it's kind of unnerving when I look back at it.
