IFC Investment Analyst or Small PE Fund

Hello world,

I have recently got 2 offers.

  1. 2 years investment analyst position at IFC

  2. A newly established PE fund from a reputable advisory firm with only $50m AUM

My long-term goal is to get into a bigger buy-side firm eventually (Asia based), and I am not sure which position will give me better chances.

I understand it's a rare opportunity to work at IFC, but I am not sure how well the private sector would look upon this role.

Would be interested in hearing views.

Thanks!

Just speaking from someone that has joined 2 months ago. Think it really depends on the office you are working at, but I don’t think they are strict about it. There’s a lot of movement within the organisation, and from what I have seen,a lot of the investment professionals don’t speak the native language of the country they are working in.
