Investment Banking in Minneapolis

I'm a junior at a semi-target but I am from MN and am looking into opps there. I have searched but there doesn't seem to be a lot of details on the MM banks in Minneapolis (Piper, Laz MM, HL, HW etc.)

Does anyone on WSO work for one of these banks that is willing to do an informational interview maybe or has insights about specific groups, culture, pay etc. Very interested in Piper.

Thanks in advance

It's RBC GAM for the Minneapolis branch, not capital markets. I am interning there this summer with trading and investment services. Minneapolis is all of the FI stuff and Boston has the equity stuff.

Hope this helps.

I know this post is dead but I was wondering what HF/VC/IB firms are in Minneapolis that take undergrads or will at least give you a shot. (internships etc...) I am going to be a junior and looking for something for next summer to try and break into the industry.

i mean generally... culture, hours, pay, exit ops.

it's hard to get a read on these groups because they're small. also no one has chimed in on them in recent months (years in some cases).

so I don't create a duplicate thread... bump this old post

For RX. I now there are some BSD MDs in the office. Does that pull weight when trying to go over to Distressed PE/HF?

There are two BSD MDs in MPLS Rx from my understanding. Most of my contacts are in the M&A side. Entire office gets to wear whatever they want (posted in another thread about how HL (Rx & M&A) guys show up in flip flops and cargo shorts to happy hours sometimes). Usually at the VP level and up, you are going to dress more properly.

Everyone talks about how solid Rx is at HL, but WIP doesn't have any HL guys that I know of. TPG Credit (now Castlelake) does have 1-2 guys from HL Rx. There is/was a few at EBF (SS/DD fund that is a step down from the previous two).

The key thing you need to remember is that HL Rx is known for creditor consultation/representation. Whereas many other shops will focus on the debtor. So, I'm not sure how many relationships you will develop with the funds themselves. That would be my main concern.

We should definitely get together for drinks. Anyone know how to start an MPLS group on here?
