Messaged a HF manager via Bloomberg
So...I logged onto a Bloomberg terminal at school (senior) and decided to msg a HF manager (whom I'd kill to work for and learn from) on IB chat as he was online. Wrote a simple msg saying who I am, what I'm interested in, why I'm reaching out to him specifically (i.e. like his investment style, track record, etc.), and asked him if there were any internship/junior analyst opportunities at his firm. After accepting my chat request half an hour later, he simply replied by saying "hds" - no idea what that means...any guesses? I replied by saying "help desk support? I'll take it!" then sent him my resume, no reply.
Rather than wondering about whether this is actually going to turn into something, I'm more curious about "hds"...anyone have any thoughts on what that means?
hds is used on trading chats to mean hello douche stick
Nice.
Glad it wasn't 'hairy downstairs.'
It means that he accidentally typed in the chat that you opened, rather than the BBG command line. HDS is a common BBG function and he just typed it in the wrong place. What does it mean for you? No idea, honestly...
basically this.
Thought as much, thanks.
Help desk support... at least you have humility.
Bold move, but to be honest PMs get tons of messages from brokers, traders etc. on Bloomberg. So the chance of getting noticed is small and you could potentially piss them off for wasting their time.
HDS Go: "How do I block other users in Bloomberg messaging?"
if youre on a terminal didnt it click why he wrote hds? i used it all the time, especially in school when i was using how to use it
Cool story, bro
I'm guessing it was accidental. HDS is used to find the top HOLDERS of a security in bberg. Keep trying, at least you know he didn't click ignore and close the window.
