Investment Banking: Valuation, Leveraged Buyouts and Mergers Barbarian at the Gates Liar's Poker The Accidental Investment Banker The 48 Laws of Power
Fiddy Shadez
Harry Potter
The Accidental Investment Banker is relatively short and is an entertaining read. More importantly, it gives you good insight on the inner workings of the industry and how the investment banking profession has changed over the years.
In addition to the ones mentioned, would also recommend Den of Thieves, The Big Short and King of Capital
Damn It Feels Good to be a Banker
And for online resources: leveragedsellout
The Epicurean Dealmaker (RIP) blog is also a must-read, in addition to the materials mentioned above.
Even as an intern, it allowed me to talk about the industry in a way that impressed my seniors; would very highly recommend.
Straight to Hell: True Tales of Deviance, Debauchery, and Billion-Dollar Deals. Written by the GSElevator guy
Influence by Robert Cialdini
Straight to Hell Monkey Business Liar's Poker
Little know but amazing read is Vulture Investors by Hilary Rosenberg - I think it was ahead of its time. Written almost in a Michael Lewis style it anecdotally chronicles the history of distressed investing.
Big Short Liar's Poker Atlas Shrugged (a great fiction book) The Rational Optimist Understanding Wall Street Flash Boys (not very IBD, more about high frequency trading but still a good read) The 48 Laws of Power How to Make Friends and Influence People Defining Decade And last, but not least Investment Banking by J. Rosenbaum and J. Pearl
i think these books will be more useful in relating to your seniors: - The Richest Man in Babylon by George Samuel Clason - The Origins of Political Order by Francis Fukuyama - The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino - Never Eat Alone by Keith Ferrazzi
I'm currently reading Never Eat Alone: fantastic book, especially for the bankers that tend to believe work > relationships.
Good stuff. Sb'd.
I would recommend All the Devils are here - Bethany McLean and Joe Nocera, a beautiful account of the Financial Crisis The House of Morgan - Ron Chernow Security Analysis - Ben Graham and David Todd, the classic Random walk down Wall street - Burton Malkiel Big Short - Michael Lewis Every Man a Speculator, a History of Wall Street on American Life
