Networking: Phone call vs. in-person coffee chat

I'm in the middle of scheduling a call at a BB firm in preparation for a summer 2018 SA position in IB (I'm a sophomore now). The presumption was that it was going to be over the phone some time this week, but I'm going to be in New York City next week, beginning on May 11th, after my finals end. Could I ask if the Analyst would prefer to meet over coffee instead? I prefer meeting face-to-face: I find it's harder for me to make a connection over the phone.

Right - is it acceptable if I respond asking if she'd be able to meet next week over coffee in NYC, instead of this week over the phone?

Try to get an in-person chat. Makes a huge difference.

Personally, I find in person is a lot better due to the ability to read someones body language - naturally, this is tough through the phone. Again, offer both and take what is returned - all networking helps.
