Pissed of by the 1% Why dont you join it?

More of a rant post but what do guys think of this?

Sitting in class yesterday we were debating on the whole 1% bullshit. Not surprisingly 96% of the class said it isnt fair that the 1% gets everything and they should redistribute the wealth. When the professor asked us what do we think--- the small group thats for it----we responded by saying we plan on joining that 1%. Now I know that this may seem like far-fetched plan and not all of us will get to that point but if we strive to get there and work hard wont we be better off then we were yesterday, a month ago, or even a year ago. I grew up in the so called "projects" in NYC and the mentality of the people in this area is they deserve everything. Your tax dollars are being used by people in this public housing not because they need the help but they are too lazy to get off their ass and find a job or go to school. They are worried about getting the latest sneaker at times waiting for days and in some cases killing each other over it. These are same ones that will say they are at a disadvantage even though they didnt put a single minute of work in. What do you guys think? Can beat them join them.

1% of the country is approx 3 million people. If you have seen that commercial by some online college that said America will need 4 million college grads. That means that means that the 1% should make up 75% of all college grads. I mean education is the way to the top right? That's what everyone says. But in reality it takes work and balls to make it to the top.

I don't get the college hate. Literally the vast majority of graduates have 25k or less in debt. As long as you study something relevant you'll find a good paying job.

People just think you graduate from anywhere and are handed a check.

MBA_Junkie:

not justifying it but I think the hate comes from the fact that this $25K will probably take most folks 10 years or more to pay off. Also, the monthly installments would be the biggest single expense category for virtually all months

No doubt, but it's an investment. People spend that to remodel a bathroom, but don't flinch. And if you take 10 years to pay back 25k it's either poor planning or you studied something bunk. A PT job dedicated to paying down the loan will have it done in 2-3 years.

People who waste time arguing that "it's unfair" are the ones who will continue to suck at life for the remainder of their existence. @"BigApeMike718", you're on the right track with the "if you can't beat them..." attitude. Your next step is to ignore those arguments altogether and work on something else while the teacher wastes everyone else's time.

I don't understand people like this. Protesting won't change the fact that they chose Art Criticism or Gender Studies as their majors in college. Complaining won't undo all of their years of leisure and underachievement. Saying that people should redistribute wealth won't convince hard working individuals to just slap their foreheads and open up their wallets. There's a reason that these irate OWS-ers are in the "99%" or whatever they like to call it, and no matter how much they hoot or holler about the unjustness of it all, the fact of the matter is that they failed to make use of the opportunities that were handed to them.

Kind of off topic, but I feel absolutely no pity for most people, esp. females, in the 25-35 age bracket who complain about life being "unfair" or about how much they despise their low-paying jobs. Yea, I'm sure it sucks if you're 27 years old and in a dead end position, but a good percentage of these whiny sloths dug their own professional graves. While they were skipping lecture and binge watching "The Hills", I was having existential breakdowns in the supply closet after being bitched out by a catty supervisor at my internship. While they were spending their post-grad years traveling and taking selfies, I was working 60-hour weeks while cashing out vacation hours because my manager wasnt fond of us asking for "personal time" off. Whenever they demanded to know why I wasn't able to make it to some rave or trip or dinner party, I merely shrugged and brushed off their comments about me being boring and "old" and lame. But now I'm doing pretty well for myself, which apparently makes me "soooo lucky" and gives me a "good story" for when we meet guys.

...Really?

Anyway, these "victims" like to paint a pathetic portrait of themselves and the hardships that they must endure during these harrowing times of disparity and injustice, but fuck that. This is just another manifestation of the mind-blowing entitlement mentality that a good portion of the American population shares. I have complete sympathy towards members of certain groups who were truly disadvantaged, but most of the people who shit on "the 1%" are lazy assholes who can't fathom actually taking responsibility for their own actions.

What's global 1%? Like $30K? Fuck am I lucky to have been brought to this particular patch of dirt as a kid. Good patch of dirt to be at...

If you can't beat them, join them. Nice.
