Question about major/concentration

Does it make sense to pursue a minor in Computer Science while Majoring in Finance?  I noticed that there is a conflict between these two. Nobody typically cares about GPA for CS major and GPA are generally lower but GPA is important for Finance. So GPA is suffering when doing SC with Finance. I am wondering what is the value of CS in the Finance world( investment banking and such). Maybe just doing quantitative finance concentration is sufficient or even better than CompSci. Thanks

If you want to do anything tech-related or quantitative finance then definitely helpful to have CS. Obv need to consider GPA and stuff like that as it does have some weighing but I don’t think GPA guarding should be a number 1 priority when choosing classes. I think best to take what you are interested in learning and the good results will come from that hopefully soon

Take the CS minor / double major. Wish I did. You don’t want to be trapped in finance your whole career because you have no technical skills.

having CS experience is super important if you ever want to work a product role in tech, HF analyst (Python, SQL, etc.)

if it’s not going to kill your GPA, probably worth it

A CS degree is 100% worth the slight GPA hit.

If you’re only doing a minor, just backweight it so it doesn’t affect your GPA as much for recruiting.
