Real Estate Investment Analyst to RE IBD

Hi everyone, I’m actually an investment analyst in a big company (think Greystar, Hines, Tramwell Crow...). I have always wanted to do IBD, and in particular in a real estate team. How realistic is it to network with a lot of RE bankers in order to get some interviews and maybe get a job in in this field? thank you for your answers, and sorry for the typo. I’m writing on my phone at work.
