Roommate or go solo?

What’s up everyone, moving to NJ/NYC mid summer after school to work at a BB and wondering if I should even bother attempting to find a roommate or if I should just live alone?

Also to those who have found a good set of roommates before moving out there, how did you find them? Thanks everyone!

Assuming you’ll be back in office / not on a hybrid model I would suggest finding roommates - you won’t be home that much and once you decide to live alone you won’t want to go back to having roommates so you might as well deal with it for your analyst years and save some $$$. If you don’t know anyone to live with, you can downloading the app Roomi. I found a place my second year as an analyst that ended up working out well enough

Alternatively you can save money and try to get by sleeping in the office/in other spots. Echoing the commenter above me, you rarely spend time at home. If I were to do it all again I would honestly just sleep on random couches/at my desk and save that precious rent money.

Rental market is so strong rn you can get a studio (or even a 1br depending on the neighborhood) for the same price new analysts used to pay with roommates. I’m NYC based and used this to get my own 1br for senior year and intend on keeping it this way. SO much better than roommates (I also grew up an only child so I require a quiet environment). Very affordable right now.
