Should I send my updated resume to all of the firms I've applied to?
I'm looking for a summer internship and I had a 3.5 GPA before the fall semester. My semester ended last week and my GPA went up by over .10 of a point, now in the 3.6 range. Should I update the application portal for all of these banks with my new resume?
Why not? As long as you can provide proof when the company asks for it, you should use your new GPA.
It sure would not hurt you.
Thoughts on asking HR to replace your resume with an updated one? (Originally Posted: 01/28/2014)
Applied for an analyst position and HR emailed me saying that they forwarded my resume over to the hiring manager and will let me know if he/she is interested. I dramatically improved my resume since then (about two weeks), and yes I know I should have done it before, however, what are your thoughts on asking HR if its possible to my replace resume with an updated one (or could possibly say another reason)? I am thinking I probably shouldn't.
Mr/Ms. HR person,
I have recently updated my resume and wanted to have my most up-to-date resume on file with your firm. I have attached the new resume below. Please let me know of any changes in the recruiting process going forward.
Best,

Appreciate the input
I always did this. It would put your name back on their plate and it cannot hurt to get your resume across them again
Is there a way to update a Goldman Sachs SA resume? (Originally Posted: 10/23/2013)
Thanks
What do you mean?
If you mean update the attachment on an application after you submitted it.... no you cannot edit it.
SA = Summer Analyst
you applied for Spring Week from what I can see above
you could probably email HR and they would update the attachment for you that works with Citi for example, not sure about GS
but it is done when you have some new experience to add or some major changes to your application
however, application data can't be changed only the telephone number/address part
Received end of semester grades -- How to 'update' a submitted resume for SA? (Originally Posted: 12/25/2009)
Long time lurker, finally made an account, maybe the biggest mistake ever?
Anyways, I have a question about SA recruiting. I'm a transfer student (from a New England State University to University of Michigan). I had a NE State school GPA of 3.5, and now have a Michigan GPA of 3.7. Unfortunatly, I already submitted a couple resumes before I got my final grades for the semester and thus have not shown that I have a good Michigan GPA. I'm studying Economics at UMich.
Is it normal to email recruiters and say something to the effect of "Hey, I just got my new grades in for the semester and felt that they would be of benefit for your selection process. I've attached my updated Resume and unofficial transcript for your consideration."
Just checking in to see if anybody else has done something like this and if it would be looked upon as a good thing (as opposed to pestering the recruiters).
If you were directly applying through recruiters, it shouldn't be a big deal to send a brief email letting them know that your final grades have come in and that you have attached an updated SA resume for their consideration. If, however, you just applied through the bank's web site via a resume drop, I don't think you can do much, unless you can edit your application. Again, if you've got email addresses and have a valid update, there is nothing wrong with sending it over - unless they ask for one, however, it is not necessary to attach your unofficial transcript (if you want to, you are welcome to). Good luck.
Luckily I'm mostly applying through recruiter resume drops, so I'll shoot them an updated resume.
in case you're paranoid, people (ie: interviewers who also lurk) will be able to identify you based on the information you're providing - i doubt many people transferred from UVermont to UMichigan.
I've changed that. I'm not too paranoid though. I wouldn't post anything on here that I wouldn't be proud to have an interviewer see. But I understand you're concern and I thank you, throws silver banana at Sandy_Riprock.
Maybe you can edit YOUR post to remove my old school :) haha
mmm, sorry about that. the edit link isn't showing up for some reason. i'll remove that as soon as it lets me.
An (possibly important) update in the resume, should I report it to HR? (Originally Posted: 01/28/2010)
I should make some corrections to my GPA because my gpa will have to get lowered by 0.1 after the rounding. I just found it out yesterday and my GPA will be now 3.5, before it was 3.6. So today I went to the career center and I got scared at what my counselor told me: I didn't intend to lie in all honesty(my resume is solid otherwise and I haven't been convicted of felony, crime, etc.), but she said it could raise a serious issue of integrity and honesty if I later get caught.
Now the problem is, I already submitted my resume to a couple major banks, some of which I am having interviews this and next week. The last thing I want is to be asked about my erroneous GPA after the superday (or after getting an offer). Should I try to send an email to HR, or update my resume in their online applications even though the chance of reviewing them is slim? I can upload the appilcation on their websites if that is what's needed. And last, how much should I be worried of the possible background check?
And just for the information, my school does not stamp the official GPA on the transcript. It is really a long story for me but just in short, 1) I submitted my GPA which is 0.1 higher than my actual one 2) The interview is going well, and I'm worrying about the background check and the submission of my transcript later.
i think you need to chill out. if it comes up just be honest and say you screwed it up. if they still make a big stink about it, that should tell you something about the type of firm it is. it's not like you rounded up a 2.9 to a 3.6. if you're that concerned, call HR and give them a heads up. don't think this is really something to freak out over.
would be curious to hear others' thoughts though...
Hey just fyi, I'm in a similar situation and know exactly how you feel! I have a superday coming up and decided to email HR an updated resume. I just did that so she hasn't responded yet but I felt like it was the safer thing to do.
Thanks bankingrox. I'm considering it now, but haven't made a decision yet. If I sounded like retarded I apologize. But I freaked out because I don't want to lose a future offer because of one tiny number in my resume. Of course I didn't scale it up from 2.6 to 3.9 but difference is still a difference. (or this is what my counselor insisted.)
This might be a tactful issue but if I get caught later the only excuse I can make would be something along the line of "oh it was just a typo and I didn't mean to put it there," which will look totally stupid and careless. If on the other hand I take a preemptive action now and send HR a short email with an updated version, I will look at least honest and sincere.
just curious, but how did your GPA in fact go from a 3.6 to a 3.5? typo? were your grades from last semester not included when you applied? school screw up the calculation? or did you just straight up round up to a 3.6 when you shouldn't have?
If you want to wait, I'll let you know what my HR lady says or don't say lol. In any case, I worded the email super nicely and thanked her bunches of times but I'm kinda freaked out about her thinking I'm annoying too. The problem is your future is too vulnerably in the hands of others :(
chill out dude- worst case scenario you get the offer and then have to explain to HR the mix-up.
.1 on the GPA isn't a dealbreaker
dude, just email forward your updated resume to HR and interviewer. Most likely they wont even notice anything different. If it comes up, you have proof that you updated them. They can't ding you if you updated them prior to an offer.
