Sober October

Well boys, my mild-moderate alcoholism is turning into regular moderate alcoholism. Time for a reset. Sober October 5 to November 5 - No drugs or alcohol. Nicotine and caffeine are fine. Who's joining me on this epic endeavor? If nobody is down, someone please bump this thread in a month and ask how I did so that I will feel shame and embarrassment of failure and in turn succeed in reigning in my lifelong affliction somewhat. If you have your own 30 day challenge you'd like to propose, then propose away.

I almost wish I wasn't so high-functioning so that I'd fuck some shit up and maybe have stronger incentive to change. I've done lots of work in a blacked out state and it went fine and nobody knew.

No man you're totally fine. I've had substance issues since I was like 13. You know it when you got it for sure.

You in for another month? Care to discuss the circumstances of your falling off? It's always so insidious. Family gathering, everyone is drinking, I'm part of the family, an adult having a nice time, why not sure. Four days later, the counter is littered with vodka bottles, I've neglected a lot of emails, and the ones I did reply to, I probably shouldn't have. Because you're an idiot crazy person, Goldie. Get it through your hea

I at least made it to the last Friday night and decided that I couldn't wait until Monday the 1st. Got home from work at about 5 and passed out by about 715...woke up at midnight in bed with my clothes on and my dog licking my face. I have been good since, so why not make it another month....probably for the best

Funniest

Nah I don't party at all. I don't even like most people.

I'm just doing 30 days dude. That coffee line is horseshit though. Sorry. I drink coffee too. Are you just saying that cause you see people in AA meetings drinking coffee in movies? Your tone is that of like a mentor or some shit, but I feel like I go way deeper in the substances hole than you. So thanks but no thanks, I guess is what I'm saying. It's a shallow, albeit appreciated, attempt at empathy.

Day 8 no booze with exception of a glass of wine last night. Gotta give the ‘ol workhorse a break from time to time.

Take some tumeric. Good for lil baby livy.

I'll join you. Though I'll be starting tomorrow as I already had beer this morning and will have quite a bit more tonight. Might just do an alcohol fast until I hit Vegas next month.

in it 2 win it

Want to know what will make it easier to go sober? Get into fitness, being healthy makes you feel better. After 3 months of eating clean and training hard, if you get drunk, the hangover will be rough and seeing how it halts your muscle growth, it'll be much less appealing to drink.

It's challenging to switch from party hard, drinking is the activity mode from college through early twenties to a more, dare i say, responsible consumer of alcohol. Nowadays - if i have more than a few glasses of wine i might as well go running since i'll be up all night anyway feeling like i'm running a race.
