The 15 year old British kid that wrote a report for MS...highly cynical
Has everyone read it?
I really do not believe a 15 year old kid could have wrote that entire report. How did he even get a internship as a high school freshman anyway? He must have parents in high places. While some parts of the report are cute, I seriously doubt that it went through to publishing without intense editing.
Now this kid has a golden ticket to the top schools & internships. I know the world isn't fair, but this seems a bit too ridiculous

It was hardly ER, it was more like the sort of thing that most teenagers know and most fifty year old fund managers don't. Take, for instance, the media's boner for twitter; do you know anyone who uses twitter? Do you see any way twitter can monetize their platform? No, it's not happening; the kid points out that no one our age uses twitter, it's just cnbc anc cnn tweeting each other.
That said, it very clearly was NOT edited; there were several grammatical mistakes and a couple of misspellings, which I doubt any FT ER analyst would let by him. As for how he got the job, I've no idea, but it's not that surprising; many ways to get ahead in this world. That said, I highly doubt this gig has him set for life. It highlighted his lack of attention to detail to an international audience, but will still probably set him up well for future internships. I don't think that publishing ER at 15 is the best indicator that he is going to be the next julian robertson though.

I use twitter and a majority of my friends do as well. People said that the only way for Google to monetize their platform was to sell their algorithms to more established companies, well, I guess they were wrong. I am certain that Twitter will develop some sort of system to generate revenue (perhaps a "preferred tweet" or something along the line of that) who knows.
The kid also went on to say that instead of using mobile cell phones, children use x-box live to communicate with each other... I am sorry but I have never NOT used my phone to sign onto X-Box live to ring someone up, that's just fucking retarded.
ya that xbox comment struck me as funny too. Personally I use instant message as my main way of talking to friends. I have 16 IMs open right now on my other screen from people I talked to today as I type this out.

This kid is my new picture perfect example of how virtually everyone who goes into anything remotely finance is retarded and overpaid. It shows that a 15 year old kid with poor writing skills and minimal knowledge can make an impact and better yet that management needs and values his advice.
Too bad my old example was Lenny Dykstra...
If a fund manager wants to get a better perspective on popular tech stuff, he should consult his own kids. I bet that a result would be very similar to what we discuss here.
Even a 15 year old wouldn't start talking about something without posting a link to it.

Anime? Really? He's factually wrong on virtually every point he brings up. Morgan Stanley's European media team is behind this whole thing, which is a real shame.
wow. . . . .I'm really not understanding the hype. There's no citations or references for the (what are probably incorrect) statistics that he is spewing out. And the material that is "correct" is common sense knowledge.

Well, he probably has garnered a lot of positive attention from his parents and his parents' friends. Beyond that I am pretty sure that 90% of people who hear about this are going to think this kid is a complete moron... Well, at least I hope 90%, is it bad that I still have faith in humanity?
The sad thing is that the manager at the firm said something like "this is the most clear-written, concise report we have ever read"! And it generated 6x the regular client feedback than the average research reports written by REAL analysts...
