They're fine for business casual. Wouldn't wear them to an interview
I tend to avoid rubber soled dress shoes because usually they look less professional. If you're spending $500 you're obviously in the market for some nice shoes that will last. Check these out, they're a bit more expensive but one of the best and most respected shoemakers, Church's.

They aren't bad, but for the money your spending there i'd advise looking towards Allen Edmunds or something of the sort. But I'll also advise don't get the same shoes in both Black and Brown. Once again, when your spending 500 on a pair and 1000+ for two pairs mix it up a bit. I understand the whole if it fits and you like it buy a bunch (like with shirts) but I personally think that shoes are the one thing, if nothing else, that can help you stand out from others. Then again, if you just want to get it done. Go for it.

A few points I didn't include in my original post: - I work in consulting (not banking). Our attire is business casual in the office and business professional or casual for clients (depending on the type of meeting). I am a manager going on to director (jr. partner), so I find myself more and more in key client-facing situations. - That being said, I've been generally "laissez faire" when it comes to attire to date (e.g., Brooks Brothers non-iron shirts, BB or similar slacks, Ecco loafers). - I've been trying to upgrade my day-to-day wardrobe, and better looking/fitting shoes is a key priority.
I also had reservations about getting the same shoe in two different colors--I'll look into some other brands (e.g., AEs, Church's).

Dude, if you're going to be spending $500 per pair, get C&J or Carmina. If you want to spend less (around $250 per), get AE, Loake, or Meermin.
I think they're great. Very fashionable yet still subtle and professional enough. Although I would just get one of the two colours and for the second pair get another brand/a different style.
OP -- Those shoes are horrible.
Sorry, but for $500, you could do much better. I would go with wingtips or some traditional oxfords -- not that squared end bullshit. Pick up a pair of penny loafers as your third, and definitely invest in some cedar shoe trees. After a long day of wear, the shoe trees dry out the leather and help the shoe maintain its shape.
