bb.MandA.3rdyeardepends if you are a person who could have gone into IB, and if you're willing to give up experience. We interviewed a guy who was with PwC for 3 years in transaction services and he was willing to be a first year.

did he get the job?

no we took a kid from DrKW who was willing to be a first year after a full-year at a third tier bank.

I am with Big4 for 4 years auditing for non-FS clients, and I am willing to be considered as an entrant, but still it's tough. What about Equity Research? What kind of skills does IB need for this division? What kind of questions do they ask during interviews? How many rounds of interviews we'll have to go through? Thanks guys for your information!

Hi all I am also in a similar situation. I currently work in a Big four firm doing audit. (experience is1 year now)

I am seeking for a chance to transit to ER in Ibanking this fall. (when the recruiting for FT analyst begin) Regarding my qualifications, I have passed the CPA exam and also will be taking CFA level 2 this June. In addition, I have a master of accounting degree from an solid graduate business school. But the main issue is that I am out of school and will not be able to use the recruiting system, which means that I have to apply on-line and I don't think that will get me anywhere.

Any thoughts on how I can approach this? Or how I can get myself prepared? I figure out that it is hard to get opportunities once you are out of school. I know I need to network, but how can I get to know more people in this industry?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I know a director who started out doing auditing work at a now defunct mutual fund in NY, but he went back to b-school and eventually ended up at a bulge bracket IB.

He runs an entire IB department now, and boy he's tough!
