URGENT: Am I Too late for SA 2020?!
Hey guys,
I am a returning junior at non-target. I took a leave of absence for two years to serve in the military.
I just got discharged in May and began looking for summer 2020 internships. I found out that they are already almost done with recruiting. I see some applications listed on websites and I see that GS still hasn't opened their application portal. Do you think other banks will still accept applications if I apply ASAP? I also just began reaching out to alums. Is networking the only possible way for me now to get a 2020 SA internship?
So I just went to Lazard's website (applications advice page) and found that they are opening up their application for summer internships in September, but on their career page, internships have been posted since May?
Please let me know.
Cheers,
Im slightly out of touch in terms of recruiting cycle now but I would say that most summers are underway/wrapping up with FT recruiting starting at the end of summer.
I would get on applications/networking ASAP. I should note, not to discourage you but simply filling out online apps without any networking or connection to the bank is likely futile.
Will do that. Thank you so much!
You are not too late at all. Citi and RBC are the only places that have truly wrapped up recruiting. Many places have not even released apps yet. Most banks will pick things up in july and recruiting will go into the fall. Begin networking and applying now. Best of luck
This makes me feel better. I thought I was so late into this application process. I will definitely follow your advice. Cheers.
Although Citi and RBC is indeed full, I would say a majority of EBs, with the exception of Evercore and Moelis, have filled up 70-80% of their 2020 summer class. JP is being filled throughout this month and into July. Other places to look at - UBS/Wells/Mizuho will be recruiting in the Fall. You should leverage your network but also given that you have served in the military, do not be afraid to network with bankers who have done the same - HUGE leverage.
Citi is not full. DCM had a superday a week ago and Markets has a superday in 2 weeks. Source, I am going to them.
Was referring to the Investment Banking(Both Fig and Generalist) Not CMO...
I'm assuming you are a diversity/core school candidate, because senior HR whom I spoke with have said that they filled all their non-core school spots. My apologies for the slight inaccuracy - coming from HR source.
DCM and S&T are not IB DCM is capital markets
Hey, did you serve in the Korean military? If so, PM me.
Nope just start now.
Deutsche bank will have it's second set of superdays in August so still time to apply

Do these deadlines simply apply to IB or do they include Corp Banking, Asset Mgmt, etc?
IB deadlines tend to be a few months before Asset/Wealth. I know Corp Bank/S&T and other front office tends to be in line with IB.
