What can a CFA expect to make in median salary?

Asking a question like that means you don't need to worry about the answer.

This should be the response to 95% of WSO posts.

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

I don't disagree. Cracks me up when people considering something as difficult as the CFA ask such dumb questions. And yes, there is such a thing as a dumb question.

HE LIVES!

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

Yeah in all seriousness man it is very difficult to say. Largely because it is done at different parts of peoples careers. I'm a L3 candidate and I'm 27. It's interesting on test day to see so many babyfaced college kids and an equally large number of senior citizens. The average fits somewhere in between. To become a doctor or lawyer you have to earn a phd or jd before you can start practicing. A portfolio manager on the other hand may have 25 years of experience and for some reason decide that at this point in his career he needs to become a CFA charterholder and goes for it. At the same time you can have a 23 year old with no work experience taking the exam with the portfolio manager. There are far too many variables to get a cut and dry idea on what you can expect to make. People really shouldn't take it only on the basis of wanting to increase their salaries. It can be very useful for certain people and useless for others. If you are thinking about doing it, I would do as much research as possible because the time commitment required will consume a large part of your life regardless of how intelligent you are.

sorry, im a middle schooler who was looking to know how much an ANALYST makes. CFA is the liscence, just learned that :p

There are MIDDLE SCHOOLERS on here??? Good. Lord. Go outside and play dude. Don't even think about finance for at least a few more years, if even then. Honestly, Call of Duty is a better use of your time at this point.
