What did you do to celebrate your job offer?

I was recently offered a SA position at one of my top choices after a long and arduous journey.

bI was wondering what you fellow monkeys have done to celebrate your SA or FT offer. Whether it be a fun night out with the boys or buying yourself something nice - curious to hear your stories.

I'm getting drunk and will probably buy a new set of irons for golf after using my dads old clubs for the last 5 years...

Also got an offer at a top shop under a great MD. But gonna be honest, I bought myself a bag of beef jerky. Didn't eat it till like a week later and it wasn't even that great tbh, should've bought Jack Link's beef nugs instead.

Oh I also went to dinner with a buddy and got drinks afterwards.. I live in a shitty town currently so not much to do. Can't wait to get back to the city.

Go all the way

First one - Magnum of Moet

Second one - Normal Moet

Third one - Dom Perignon

Fourth one - Piper Heidsieck Rare

Looking back, not sure why I got the Moet, could have bought much nicer champagne instead

First of all, congratulations.

On this occasion, I prefer to celebrate my success with my loved ones over buying something only for myself.

I'm a believer in celebrating the big wins. A small tradition I've done for the past few years after every big life move (New house, new job, etc) is:
1) Go to your favourite restaurant with a few friends, you pick up tab
2) Buy yourself something you've been eyeing up (minimum $200)
3) Buy something for someone else (minimum $200)
4) Anyone that helped you achieve what you did gets a bottle of their favourite

Most recently I ended up going down to Miami and rented a yacht with some friends (chill it was the minimum length to qualify as a yacht, I'm not that rich). Awesome experience. The cool thing is that these celebrations can eventually catch on in your friend group.

Congrats, you've just created a crew that celebrates each other's successes.

Just had my trade dispute rejected by Schwab for a loss of 35k. This single issue alone should be a gigantic red flag to anyone who trades on their platform. If they have a system error, and you do not video record your trading (they actually said this), they will not honour their fuck up. Switching everything away from them. Fuck this company.

I do data analytics for a living so roles are a bit all over the place. I was celebrating doubling my annual income.

Honestly idk if you bought the normal ones or the pro, but after having had the last generation normal ones all I can say is I profoundly regret the purchase. The microphone sounds like shit, they will randomly connect to just one ear and worst part is they already changed one earpiece to no avail.

I genuinely want to get the pro ones but I am afraid I may end up with the sane meh product that happens to be overpriced because Apple

I have the AirPod Pro now and had the normal AirPods before and I can confidently say that the old ones sucked! I hated them before and I hate them now. THey would fall out of my ear and I hated the fact that there was no buds on it. I then upgraded to the AirPods Pro and it feels remarkably different now. I went through recruiting with those AirPod Pros and never had a problem.

Funniest

I logged onto LinkedIn and thanked a bunch of people by posting that I couldn't have done it without their guidance and mentorship, and also how much I couldn't wait to take on the next challenge of my life.

After a super day, got my offer in the airport and upgraded to first class for free drinks. Proceeded to blackout on a 2-hour flight home and lost my wallet on the plane. Fun times

hahaha love it. I also did this after a superday that went extremely well (I thought I was guaranteed the offer), got blasted in the city with friends and ended up blacking out after drinking a few pre-flight termies at the airport and fell asleep waiting for my flight. Had to buy the next flight out on my own dime. Heard back the next day I didn't get it.

I never celebrated because I was always paranoid something would go wrong... didn’t want to jynx it I guess. Well, I’m here

Went outside after officially quitting my previous role with joy and ran to the Ess A Bagel nearby and treated myself to the best damn lox bagel I could buy that I was previously too cheap (and poor) to pay for. It tasted amazing and I felt great.

I celebrate the days that define me like birthdays, holidays, graduation, etc. Didn’t really feel the need to celebrate becoming an intern. I slept good for a week though and felt relieved that I didn’t have to talk to network with awkward as hell analysts anymore. It’s shocking looking back now to realize how bad people are at making conversation.

After getting my internship, I went to bed and got the first stress free, good night sleep that I had in months. After getting my lateral offer, I had the most satisfying mouse click when I sent my farewell email and had a blast telling other people that my projects were their problem now. I got pretty fucked up after both events, but I get fucked up pretty often so it was more of a "lets get drunk and this also happened" than a "lets get drunk because this happened."

i felt really good for a few hours then i started wishing i had an offer at a more well known/10B+ fund and my happiness/stress levels mean reverted

im the eldest of migrants.

when they first moved out to the West and had me, they suffered a lot of financial worries and would visit this cheap restaurant which they really enjoyed as a day out.

visited the same restaurant the day after the offer goal from a good bank and just sat there, kept saying to myself no more financial worries.

So happy to hear this man went through something similar with my family too. Hope it all works out for you
Ozil the GOAT playmaker btw arsenal disrespected this man too much now God punishing us w Travis Scott up front

Got my offer while traveling in Tokyo. Interviewed for a NYC position, so their noon was my midnight. Took the call from the club bathroom and proceeded to black out

I'm currently in a low-paying (nonprofit/government) job. Recently got into my #1 target MBA program and celebrated by buying myself my first nice watch. Just a Hamilton Jazzmaster Auto, nothing outrageous, but I've been into watches for a while and only owned some cheap Seikos and Timexes, so it felt like a milestone. Planning to continue this when I accept internship/full-time offers in the future and then for promotions after that, moving up the ladder a little each time brand-wise.

Also, love some of the other responses re: Creating a culture of celebrating successes with friends. During COVID, my roommates and I have gotten a lot closer by getting beer and pizza for the house everytime somebody has a big life win - the person whose success we are celebrating always buys. It may not be renting a yacht or a trip to Tulum, but it's awesome reinforcement to root for each other in a time when it's easy to disconnect and disengage from those important personal relationships.

MBA - recruiting is all fall with 1 week of actual interviews in January where 1st rounds are Mon/Tue, Superdays Wed-Fri, offers come out Friday, after which we have another 2-3 weeks of break. Booked a flight to Miami that thursday with a great crew and partied Friday - Tuesday and blew the entire summer signing bonus (on credit card, don't get it for a bit).

One guy came down with no offers and got a tip top offer while drunk on the beach - such an awesome trip.
