I own an Audemars Piguet which I bought after 5 years of my savings, I am a big watch guy. Would it be ok to wear it as an analyst even tho it is worth 20k. Would love to hear your thoughts and insights on if any analyst in your experience has worn a Rolex/AP comparable watch.

Planning to be more low key and use my analyst 1 bonus to purchase a Grand Seiko SBGA211 (Snowflake) or SBGA413 (Four Seasons Collection: Spring).
Will probably get an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak if I make it to senior associate/VP.
Definitely want to get the snowflake as well. I've always been into watches but could never afford any, so pretty excited for my first bonus as well.
I think the general consensus I've seen is that most people don't care. If someone happens to notice chances are they are into watches too. The only warning I've seen is not to wear something that looks like you're trying to flex on your MDs (i.e. a presidential Rolex). If it's relatively subtle and you aren't actively throwing your wrist in people's faces then I'm sure you'll be fine.

I would not wear any AP watch as a junior...the last thing you want is for everyone to think you’re flexing on them when you have little to know credibility to begin with

it is a bad look for an analyst to wear a watch that's more than $5k.
I personally don't care, but I know for certain that many VP's/ED's/MD's across several banks will.

It's ok to buy whatever you want. Just buy it used past the depreciation curve. Unfortunately that's not a thing with the Royal Oak so if you can get one at sticker, go for it b/c you can make money selling it the next day. Same deal with some SS sports models with Rolex. But unless you have a crazy relationship with AD, you are paying way way more than sticker for an RO or SS Rolex.
Random question but you're pretty knowledgeable about watches so I figured I'd ask. From what I'm seeing with augmented/virtual reality, tech companies are focusing on wearables, especially on the wrist and eyes. If wearables become prominent with regards to interacting wit the AR/VR world, do you think that will influence the demand for watches?
Watches or at least haute horology = wearable art. I don't think anything will happen at all to them.
You have any favorite Seiko pieces? Just started browsing and will probably get that as my "first piece" that I've bought on my own. Assembled in Japan obviously.
