Which banks still give their analysts blackberries? (2016)
Will be starting at a global MM this summer, and I have yet to find out what "perks" the office offers.
I know a lot of banks have phased out blackberries altogether, with many of them pushing for employees to use their personal phones for work.
Which banks still offer analysts blackberries? Do any of them even offer analysts a work phone nowadays?
I know a lot of places are pushing for BYOD and using one phone, often with Good app, but it doesn't seem like most people are satisfied with the app.
Good App is a complete joke... The fact that it needs to be actively checked is a nightmare. I just want my phone to buzz everytime my associate shoots me a weekend email so I know if its a firedrill. With the good app I am on tenterhooks checking the app all weekend trying to make sure I dont miss anything
This. I hate GOOD app more than the red blinking light of death
We are prohibited from doing work on personal devices.
Most banks are still using Blackberries. There's no reason to switch really - iPhones and Androids have shorter battery lives and most will be severely locked down so you can't do anything interesting / use personal apps on it anyways.
I still dual wield a personal iPhone and a work Berry.
Good is better than AirWatch. Our IT department shifted from the first to the second a while ago. AirWatch is like going backwards 5 years in terms of user interface.
I'm at a MM bank - simply asked for a work iPhone and was provided one no problem.
what's a blackberry
Good app fucking blows. That's a misnomer for the ages.
My MM firm gives everyone iPhones if they want one and if you want you can get a secure email client installed on your personal - transitioning away from Good to MobileIron now.
Blackberry just needs to come out with an Android powered device for business people and they would be fine. Instead they keep trying to be like Apple and failing miserably.
I'm at an AM firm, so not entirely relevant, and some have blackberrys, others use personal devices. We use Touchdown (Symantec) that requires a password to access the email and can be wiped remotely by IT if needed (without wiping the whole phone). Works great, I get notifications as normal and simply enter my passcode to read them. Surprised banks don't use something similar
Curious to know what blackberries are issued. Haven't seen one in forever.
I think ideally, I'd ask for a blackberry for work and have my iphone for personal use. Only shitty part, as plenty of people on here have mentioned, is having to deal with carrying two phones around.
Our firm recently phased out the blackberries and switched to iphones. The downside of this trade is that we use Good, which is absolutely atrocious.
Damn that sucks. Our firm's iPhones let us use the default Apple mail client.
We are in the process of moving from BB to iPhone. We also have the option to use a personal device (with Good app) and receive $20 per month for our personal data usage.
