entrepreneurship - A Love Story & Guide
I am an entrepreneur. I started my first business when I was 12 years old using money from my birthday. By 13, I was attending in person sales meetings and helping clients build new marketing initiatives. At 14, I was featured in the Wall Street Journal. After a short stint with Mercedes-Benz, I returned back to my entrepreneurial roots. In the past year I’ve started, merged and sold multiple successful businesses.
I’m 20 years old now, in my third year of university. Part of the reason I registered on WSO is to figure out what I want to do professionally. I’ve been gravitating towards consulting as I feel it suits my experience best. With that being said, I’ve always been fascinated with the market. The idea of being part an IPO excites me.
Everything I know, I taught myself. I do not come from an affluent family, the exact opposite actually. I spent my childhood sitting at the babysitter from 6AM to 9PM 4 times a week while my mother worked to support us. The reason I am telling you this is to encourage you. Regardless of your financial status as you read this, you can change it.
Some of you may be wondering…”why is an arrogant asshole on the front page of the WSO?” This 5 part series is designed help you. I will break down step by step how to start a profitable business online. We will cover how to choose a product, marketing, e-commerce platform, processing payments, and distribution. I will incorporate real life examples into each article in order for you to understand my perspective and the decisions made.
This series will apply to broke students and to those already successful. Your goal may be to pay for college, supplement your salary or to quit the corporate world altogether. It is obtainable if you follow my guide.
I will open each article with answers to questions asked by the community. You are welcome to ask me anything.

Cool, definitely interested. Thanks for sharing - look forward to reading.
Nice. Post the link to the WSJ feature dude.
This sounds interesting, I look forward to hearing what you have to say; thanks for taking the time.
look forward to this, post the WSJ article as well if you are able.
What did you do for MB, that is my dream job.
Wow. I will be looking forward to your posts.
Yea man I am looking forward to undertanding your expereinces in starting a business.
I have always wanted to just get out of the college " GPA stress" situtation and just expereiment with business ideas. I actually jsut enjoy the rush of creating businesses and maybe investing in them, I started one in high school, running a mobile marketing company but I never did anything serious.
So when will we see the guides brah
Proof?
Not sure who this is, but don't expect to get any SEO benefit / links. If you're for real, great - would love to hear the story. If not, please don't waste our time.
Thanks, Patrick
yea I would like to see some proof as well, if you link that WSJ article like you mentioned you were in I would believe.
what is your major
I don't understand. You say "In the past year I’ve started, merged and sold multiple successful businesses." however you are considering to become a consulting/banking employee? Entrepreneurship is, as you point out in your title, a love. When an entreprenuer is building an idea, they work so hard becuase they are so driven and eager to see that idea take shape and test it in the market. It is an entirely different dynamic than the employment model.
I say this because i am pretty determined to start a business this year and I find myself losing considerable sleep developing the concept, speaking to people in different timezones, doing research, and just thinking about it. However, I don't really mind losing sleep, and if you are entreprenuer you should understand why. This is very different than pulling an all-nighter on a pitchbook for your MD.
If you love entreprenuership and have genuinely "started, merged, and sold multiple successful businesses" why are you considering becoming employed? It seems to be a total side-step. Surely you must have a pocket full of other ideas you are excited about and that you are eager to develop and build.
Oh hi Christian, decided to join WSO did you?

Great. As long a there's interested readers, I'm more than happy to continue.
Check original post.
No worries. The community is the reason I am putting this together.
Edited the original post to include it.
Sales and marketing. What is your ideal position at MB?
Great.
I hope they're helpful. If you need further clarification, feel free to ask. While GPA is important, don't let school kill your entrepreneurial ambition.
Ideally by Thursday I'll release one on product selection. It's the most difficult article to write as there's no clear way of going about it.
I've edited the first post to include it.
Accounting.
Asia_i_Banker I'll respond to your post in depth at the beginning of the next article on product selection.
All the best.
Am I missing something the WSJ article seems to be about hacking
The article is about hacking?
As my business is currently branching out and opening a online shop, I would be very interested which platform you used, why you choose it and how you solved payment.
I'm considering Paypal's, online payment option as a start, any experience?
Looking forward to this series.

''Underground wholesalers, installers and manufacturers profit from finding ways around the originalXbox's security flaws. "I don't see the reason to get a nine-to-five job or work part-time after school," says an Xbox maven in Ontario, Canada, who buys and sells modified chips in his sparetime. He describes himself as a 14-year-old student and estimates he made $50,000 sellingmicrochips and other hacker-designed products for the original Xbox last year.He says he sells chips to Web sites and middlemen who place the chips in the Xbox. Because hedoesn't provide additional software necessary to skirt copyright protections, he does not see hisactions as unlawful. "I'm not doing anything wrong," he said.''
Boreed you got some attention to detail :O
I'm just going with the flow, cos I was born to win and I have nothing to lose.
Yea bro why are you attempting to create a career for youself in banking if you can really do anything you want,
its like my pitbull, when I let it off the lease he runs like crazy, then when I tie him up again he attempts to bite his way out. I feel like you may try to bite your way out.
just put him to sleep brah
sure, i did lol
OP, you're full of crap and you know it. If you weren't, why did you have the thread at redflagdeals taken down?
To recap what happened in the other forum: - You posted a super arrogant cover letter talking about being and I quote "dominate in a niche" - You exaggerated your accomplishments which the other users picked apart. Your short stint at Mercedes was working as a summer student. There was a huge disconnect between what you did and what you said you did. - You talked about how awesome you were and how you wanted to work at the top banks, except you go to Ryerson.
This thread is bullshit.
Tyler, you're being schizo. Get some sleep.
lol dude goes to Ryerson?!
I'm gonna put my elitism aside since entrepreneurial talent has nothing to do with the prestige of the school you go to. But just to echo what dude above said, after a little bit of scrutiny, it does seem like you are talking up your accomplishments a bit, especially on a board that is stacked with lots of accomplished people.
But as I said, I'll keep an open mind, and look forward to insights.
Whats with the shit throwing and all the trash talk? Give the dude a break and let him post something first before you condemn. I would be very interested in hearing what he has to say as I've been wanting to open a business for years now. If it turns out that shit is weak or he's trolling, then so be it, but lets please just see what he has to offer to the community first.
OP, I look forward to seeing your first post as I am curious of your experiences. Please don't be dissuaded by some as they don't represent all. A lot of people here are quick to judge, and unfortunately it's guilty until proven innocent at times.
hahha "yet".. on my command unleash monkey shit!!!
Also for some reason your part 1 isnt working for me.
