What types of cologne do you guys wear?
I'm having trouble deciding which cologne to get. I'm gonna buy some samples to see which one I like more. Which one do you guys like?
I heard Creed is really good (especially Green Irish Tweed)
http://www.ebay.com/itm/251183791023?ssPageName=S…
or
Clive Christian
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLIVE-CHRISTIAN-1872-EAU-…
Too pretentious?
never heard of clive christian however I definitely don't want to smell like lavender and sage... I just wear the classic D&G... Do you want to know what brand of nail polish I use too? (since you asked -> O.P.I.)
I like sharp and spicy fragrances, big fan of Kenzo, some Hugo Boss, Gucci has some nice ones too, or classic Calvin Klein cant go wrong
Completely agree. I wear Dolce & Gabanna cologne and it works out great.
none
Giorgio Armani Aqua Di Gio. Got the set as a gift nearly 2 years ago from a coworker, and still going strong. From Macys
i wear: mUST by: MeyeKOCK
Sex Panther
.
Macy's: Your fragrance destination.
Seriously though, Lacoste is good. Also, The Beach by Calvin Klein.
.
Wear something light.
The best thing for you is to keep good hygiene habits. Having no smell is better than having some smell, even if it smells good to some. The thing you've got to understand is that, not all people consider a certain cologne as a good smell. So your best bet is to have no smell at all.
Ferragamo, Burberry, and some lighter Versace. I like Burberry...
Green Irish Tweed
What ever you do, don't over do it. Girls can smell d-bags coming...
Good point. This is why I do not use it.
Good hygiene and deodorant trump cologne. Unless you smell bad, it's unnecessary.
Hermes baby! Smells like flowery sandalwood and it is not the most common scent so it's a little intriguing. Think it is like $80 a go
Honestly, if you have a good girl friend take her with you to Saks. It's really how each cologne mixes with your body. You can't try them all on but find a few you really like and see if they work on you. I know a lot of guys who don't wear any and it works for them. They smell sexy without it.
Elite from Floris and Bulgari Soir. Dior Higher Energy for more casual days
After shave bro. Cologne is nothing but downside risk.
Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme
I wear no cologne, just Old Spice high endurance original scent. Girls say I smell great.
Well said, same and same.
Eau de Balsac
None, let the shower do the talkin (but you should probably wear some deodorant too, just in case, i don't know, you sweat ever)
Anyone else miss the days when everyone just wore Axe? No? Me neither
The most common mistake people make is buying cologne that is not suitable for the season. There are fragrances that are more suitable for fall/winter weather and others that are more suitable for spring/summer weather. If you work in a warm climate, I recommend wearing the spring/summer fragrances while wearing a fall/winter fragrance every once in a while to mix it up. I also recommend using AMAZON to purchase cologne, it is much, much cheaper.
Recommendations for fall/winter fragrances usually have some sort of deep wood smell, cardamom, or cinnamon in them; Hermes (Terre D'Hermes), Tom Ford (Oud Wood, Arabic Wood), Dupont (Noir), Salvatore Ferragamo (Incanto)
Recommendations for spring/summer fragrances usually have some bright, colorful smell, usually citrus-y and light; Lacoste (the Red one is excellent), Ralph Lauren (the Red color, #2 I think, is excellent), Paco Robanne (1 Million), Montblanc (Individuel is good)
This. I wear Wall Street by Victor in the Fall & Winter (http://www.basenotes.net/ID26121686.html) its a pretty distinguished retro scent that is definitely more formal than casual.
I actually just stick with A&F Fierce in the Spring & Summer...on the rare occasion something formal comes up I'll reach for the Bleue by Issey Miyake (http://www.basenotes.net/ID26123450.html).
I also second konig's amazon suggestion, I buy all my stuff via ebay and have never paid more than $50 for a bottle. In fact, I have made nearly $2000 selling cologne on that same website.
Tiffany Sport
http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Item.aspx?sku=19000559
I like this choice, highly underrated and should definitely be considered by anyone in the workforce.
Tom Ford by Tom Ford in the Fall/Winter. Tom Ford Grey Vetiver in the Spring/Summer.
Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male
Yves Saint Laurent L'Homme
Some of you guys take cologne way too seriously.
I just shower at least once daily and use nice-smelling soap. Don't need cologne and moreover, don't want people to note my "smell", good or bad.
I have a ton but it basically goes like this: Winter- Hanae Mori, John Varvatos Spring- Creed Royal Oud, Versace Man Summer- Kiton, Creed Aventus Fall-Hermes, Burberry Brit.... Probably my absolute favorite is Aventus, although it's a tad pricey.
Creed hands down, the ladies love it. Aventus, Green Irish Tweed, Vevitver (sp?), and Neroli Sauvage are my personal favorites.
I only started wearing cologne when I got an electric razor and thus stopped using aftershave though. If you shave with a blade just get some nice sandalwood aftershave, soothing and smells good.
Kouros...
I know Aqua Di Gio is amazing but nearly EVERYONE has it now a days...
Aqua di gio is great - I've gotten a lot of compliments wearing it. But a lot of people definitely wear this... anything Salvatore Ferragamo is good
Paco Rabanne 1 Million.
success donald trump
Armani Mania, bishes love it.
Right now I have ADG and some crappy Nautica stuff, and of couse old spice and some aftershave.
Looking to buy something else, but not looking to spend a lot money. So many options.
gucci
Fierce by Abercrombie (cliche, I know).
Winter: Burberry London, Boss Bottled Summer: Lacoste Essential, Dior Homme Sport Spring/Fall: Versace (The Dreamer), Armani Code
Yo shout out for The Dreamer. Girls LOVE The Dreamer
Tiffany Sport
Polo Double Black + old spice deodorant, lethal combination.
Eau Sauvage, Dior... it was the best, it is the best and it will always be the best. A timeless jewel!
Get vulva cologne. You don't even need ladies and already smell like a vagina.
Terre d'hermes, A subtle smell without stinking up the entire room, and when people smell you they are surprised in all the best ways.
do you guys wear cologne as a summer analyst?
No.
...
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille Creed Original Santal Yves Saint Laurent La Nuit de l'Homme Ralph Lauren Black Acqua di Gio Tom Ford For Men Brooks Brothers New York
plus a few others. Top 2 are my staples
Aqua Velva or GTFO!
Noticed when I stopped wearing cologne I was actually getting more girls and about the same number of compliments on how i smell. If you don't have BO don't buy any.
I wear Axe Chocolate ;)
I bought my boyfriend this cologne for his birthday and it smells exactly like Creed-Aventus! Jordan Belfort fragrance is half the price of Creed Aventus, long lasting and smells truly amazing! I would 100% recommend this cologne to anyone.
Thank God someone brought this thread back from the dead. If any of you are interested in starting to wear perfumes, check out the Basenote forums. They have pretty much anything perfume related. Not an advertisement, but just mentioning for the few users who are looking to learn more about the perfume/fragrance industry.
I like Creed's Aventus, but runner ups would probably be Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille, Oud Wood, Neroli portofino. YSL's la nuit de l'homme is okay, but I find myself reaching for Aventus more often. It has gotten very popular in the past few years. Did you know Aventus was created for Napoleon?
Ralph Lauren Black
A couple of drops of cheap Talisker... or Aqua di parma

Hugo Boss Calvin Klein and Kenzo are my favourite

What do you smell like? (Originally Posted: 05/10/2011)
I realize this is a bit of a stretch since this forum is about fashion and for some that doesn't necessarily imply cologne/perfume, but alas, I would like to know what scent everyone is rocking to the office?
Now that I have my wardrobe all squared away, I really want to smell like a banker. J/K, I am currently at the tail end of my cologne and was looking for some suggestions as to which ones I should check out the next time I'm out and about. I currently wear Armani Code.
You??
Regards
Ethereal godliness
Great post, btw
They've done studies you know; 60% of the time, it works, every time.
farenheit
I used to wear Chrome in college. Got random compliments from random girls, so I stuck by it just because I figured the "If it ain't broke, don't fix" mantra applied quite nicely to this situation.
Canali for Men
This year: -Paco Robanne , 1 Million (Summer/Spring) -Burberry Weekend (Summer/Spring) -Ralph Lauren #2 (Summer/Spring), #4 (Winter/Fall) -Hermes Cardamom (Winter/Fall)
Tip: Choose your cologne for the season, preferable 2-3 per cycle (Summer/Spring and Winter/Fall( so you dont get bored of the smell. Fruity (lol), energetic smells are for the summer/spring cycle, while strong, frankincense and cardamom-like smells are much more suited for the Winter/Fall cycle.
:)
weekend is wonderful.
Thanks. I'll check Weekend out. I was always a huge fan of Burberry Brti, so I have high hopes for Weekend.
Regards
Konig, I've read a lot of your posts. You are way to cool/intelligent to be Saudi/Muslims. Are you really an Arab?
Armani Code Black

I smell like sweat beneath my belly.
Napalm... but only in the morning.
happy, we know about your wit alright, but probably cphbravo96 is old enough to fend for himself. He must be if he's dating old ladies.
I can fend for myself, but it's nice to know I have some backup.

Serious answer: Creed Green Irish Tweed Varvatos Vintage Fragonard Concerto
AXE, hangover, and guilt
Great post though, now I'm going to look around for some cologne!
Creed is amazing, though the price tag is a bit on the high side imho.
I've never really been a big fan of Axe, to be honest. The smell seems to be really... unrefined, I guess? Maybe it's the fact that whenever I'm forced to smell it, it's coming from some guy who sprayed half a bottle on himself. To be fair I do have a couple female friends that like it, but they're sluts, so not sure how that factors in.
A little quality cologne or none at all is the way to go, personally.
CREED of course
no srsly i smell like cheap deodorant but guess what, NO ONE CARES (unless you shower with perfume, in that case everyone will tell you're a cheapo)
Paco Rabanne's 1 Million should be named 50 cents. Or rather "Fiddy Scents" it "develops" disgustingly. The base note is ridiculously strong, top note is WAY too sweet for a man's cologne, and middle note fades out too quickly. I would see it as a good cologne for a 50 year old man with leathery skin, white speedos, oversized aviators, and inch thick yellow gold chain(s).
Eddie, they all get Sex Panther, but they don't get fucking Napalm.
What the fuck is wrong with these kids?
Yeah, not sure anyone got my 1980's Eddie Murphy reference either.
To be fair, I'd buy Sex Panther.
That's cause it really doesn't smell like Victory bro.
Apocalypse Now is a 1979 movie, a good 10 years before a lot of these kids were born lol
Jorge, PROPS! I love the smell of Napalm in the morning.
Agro, I'm 26 and have seen Apocalypse now almost a dozen times. Like what the fuck... I mean, that's a classic war movie and is far better than any Wall Street movie that WSO seems to salivate over.
Agro I am not... Lol, I hear you on the classic, but not everyone wants to see war movies. Have you seen Goebbels Experiment?
FUCK THAT HAPPY, OLD SPICE IS THE SHIT. If you want to smell like a man, AND smell good, you pretty much can't go wrong with OS (well, deodorant anyways).
Yea man, old spice rocks.
^^^Swagger or Bust
Matterhorn man, come on now
Armani Code is awesome...I use Versace too but I don't remember the name
Versace Eros is the best!
I actually use GB in my Sperry's, gotta keep them smelling fresh haha
Eddie: Cheap motherfucker ;)
We have a winner!
+1
I gotta say, Eddie M's a dirty bastard with his jokes, but Carlin and Saget both got him beat as comedians (probably Williams too)
PS- what the fuck is with these comedians and their dirty-as-hell pieces making their way into the family entertainment side of the things? I know you guys have heard Saget's and William's stand-up, Eddie Braverman obviously has heard Eddie Murphy's, and then these guys go and do shit like Full House, Dr. Doolittle, and Patch Adams... wtf?
.
Argo, sorry about that. Typo w/o correcting it. My bad. As to the Gobbel's Experiment, I have not seen the movie. I'm familiar with it though, having had to read excerpts of his diaries for a class I took on World War II in college.
D M, Saget's stand up is dirty partially because of the fact that he did Full House. He's repeatedly said that this was his outlet because everyone knew him as squeaky clean Danny Tanner, not The Infamous Bob Saget. You wanna talk about a night out with The Saget, check it out:
Now, you wanna talk about subversive humor, check out Lenny Bruce. He's subversive, funny and, for his time, was extremely dirty, far worse than guys like Carlin, Murphy, Crosby and Pryor at their height. If you listen to his 3-Disc Album Live at Carnegie Hall, you'll understand exactly what I mean. He is, by the way, the original King of Obscenity.
I'm surprised I haven't heard of him before, definitely going to have to check him out.
My head shot is a scratch and sniff and it smells like failure and onions. Thanks for asking.
Acqua di Gio
CPH, you know what I found in my medicine cabinet?
I found my own bottle of Teen Spirit. Man, that shit was awesome back in the day.
Try Acqua Di Gio
Cologne smells different on everyone but I have yet to meet someone that smells like crap when wearing Acqua Di Gio.
I don't mind Acqua di Gio, still have mine from a couple years back. It's spring/summer and I'd have a different cologne that's a little less sweet if I were you. It's just a little too sugary for me.
Someone close to me worked with OBL's father, has a lot of respect for the majority of the family as businessmen. Good place to get your start, konig.
@D_M: my grandfather's father immigrated to Saudi with OBL's grandfather. My dad went through his grade school education with 6 of the Bin Laden kids. I'm graduating this summer and I'm with a Bin Laden whom I happily call my best friend. Our families been working together now for the past 55+ years, so we know each other quite well; they're definitely not what OBL was putting out there to represent his family, country, and religion. The most down to earth people you could find, despite all this wealth.
@Military_PE_Guy: Just like I would about Benjamin Netanyahu's. Regardless of what a person does or what he believes in, everyone should respect a dead person for the fact that he's dead. That's what I believe in, anyways.
@WalMartShopper: nice!! Where are you doing your MBA, if I may ask?
I don't think anyone here will ever find it on a map haha. I'm in Jacksonville Florida and hope to do international IBD in Miami or abroad. My friend wants to introduce me to some people in Saudi or Qatar, but I need the proper skillset before relocating. If you ever travel south let me know, I'd like to learn as much about the area/culture as much as possible.
Oh, and you're most welcome here, WalMartShopper. I'd be honored to have you as a guest.
I no longer believe in the whole "respecting the dead" thing. Of course, I don't really believe in shitting on someone's grave either, but I won't treat someone's memory any different than I did when they were alive. After all, they had their goals and things they worked for, for OBL that was to kill me. I can't honestly respect the guy.
Thread hijack... complete. hahaha
I dont think Al Qaeda, Taliban, or Wahhabi/Salafi respect the dead that haven't agreed with them in life and they definitely do not respect life or freedom of choice, or anything like that. Osama got WAY more respect than saddam, and he was like 10 times worse. For us anyways.
[quote=Argonaut]I dont think Al Qaeda, Taliban, or Wahhabi/Salafi respect the dead that haven't agreed with them in life and they definitely do not respect life or freedom of choice, or anything like that. quote]
AlQaeda and the Taliban are a small bunch of misguided and uneducated people who had nothing better to do. Wahhabism is pretty much non-existant now adays in Saudi Arabia (see: Crystale, The Sands, Durrat Alaroos, Continental Beach...the list goes on).
the people who dont hold the same view as me (respecting the dead and not speaking ill of them) are very few here in the middle east. We simply say "allah yhasibo" , that is: God will judge him (it isnt any of our business)
Lacoste Essential for summer time
Terre D'Hermès - Casual and Joe Malone - Pomegranate Noir for interviews and going out.
Surprised I'm the first to mention acqua di parma.
Acqua di parma, fico di amalfi -- Everyday stuff Escada Sunset Heat - Backup everyday D2Squared Wood - Spring/Summer Night YSL - Dressy Ferragamo - Backup Dressy
I love collecting cologne. Ladies love men that smell good. No reason not to wear it.
Azzarro Chrome, always served me well!
I may go with D&G's Gentleman...reminded me of a Burberry Brit, but I think I like it a little better.
...and +1 for some Teen Spirit, lol.
Regards
Teen Spirit
gucci sport.... the ladies love it... they always compliment me before they go down.
Malizia...cause there is nothin else
wore it for mt S&T interview, got the job
Lacoste Essential Sport.
I like it and I've gotten a few compliments on it. Lacoste also makes a few other quality colognes. My ex gave this one to me as a gift and later told me every time she smelled me she wanted to fuck me.
i smell like fighter jets and punching.
I'm a big fan of subtle, so Bvlgari Aqva. But make sure you have little natural odor to overpower, because its light.
Walk into a department, let them narrow it down to a couple you like. Leave, do whatever for a few hours (except going to a gym, dive bar or Port Authority), decide (or ask your girl to do it for you) and either go back and buy it or order it online.
Polo Double Black.. Good stuff
Lacoste Essential for daytime / work Armani Code for nighttime / going out Old Spice Swagger deodorant.
Winning.
Showing some love for the Old Spice Swagger hahaha. I am a fan of Armani Code as well, you are 2 for 2 so perhaps I'll check out Lacoste Essential (I like Lacoste Red).
I love the Lacoste/Old Spice combo. It's like subtle + manly, and = win.
Going to have to check out Bulgari Aqua, if it really is a decent, subtle cologne. Subtle is the best in my opinion.
Chanel Allure Homme Sport
YSL L'Homme is great as well.
Ahh Chanel Allure. The fragrance so strong you don't even need to mist yourself in it to turn gay--merely handling the bottle is sufficient.
old spice swagger takes top prize as best deodorant
I thought that, too, but since I've been trying Matterhorn (which has a bit sweeter of a smell, I guess is the best way to describe it) I've gotten hooked.
I love great colgne on guys!!! YSL and Armani are my fav; for moi I like Chanel Chance :)

Packed in real shredded US dollar bills!
Ralph Lauren Double Black.
I like this fragrance for guys:
MUSC from Bruno Acampora
It's a natural essence sold here in the US at Henri Bendel's. It's sold in an aluminum bottle. It's from Naples Italy. Just a drop or two is all you will need. I 've been wearing it for years And get a lot of compliments. It's a rare manly, unusual and sexy scent.
By day? Caswell Massey #6 or SOMETIMES Geo Trumper Lime. By night? Creed, Green Irish Tweed.
Wear anything else and you are almost certainly a closet case.
