Advice for starting my career

Over summer, I was lucky enough to have interned at a well respected AM firm, which gave me a load of great insight and learning, ultimately confirming my interest for this area of work.

Recently I have been talking to a head portfolio manager at one of the largest AM firms in my country, who due to the lack of roles available and likely my lack of experience, has given me the opportunity to try and peruse a role in financial advisory at the firm, as I finish university at the end of this year (nothing has been offered).

I’m obviously very grateful for this option being available, and I understand that for many finance students who have an above average GPA, finding work related to finance at all straight of our uni is difficult.

If I am unsuccessful in getting a graduate role, I will likely take him up on the offer. However my ultimate goal still remains to work as an analyst in AM. With clear communication about my goals, etc, will I have a decent chance of being able to transfer into the investments team in the future?
