Hey everyone,
Applied for a high yield buy-side analyst role at AB and was contacted for a 30-minute HR interview.
Thinking ahead, but what type of questions should I expect if I make it through to an interview with someone on the high yield team? Do I need to know bond math backwards and forwards?
My current role is in valuations, so I’m strong there. We work with a lot of credit securities. I don’t deal with convexities, duration, etc though.

Would be surprised if you needed to know bond math for an analyst role. That’s probably more reserved for a PM spot. I’d say focus on financial statement analysis, knowing statement of cash flows, important metrics to look at, and factors for investing in one bond over the other.

Haha thanks man. Not sure you’ve taken any CFA levels but level 1 on financial statements could be a good refresher. Obviously skip over all the accounting bs.
