It's a hot spot and will be for the foreseeable future as banks tighten up their credit and massive amounts of capital (trillions) needs to be refinanced. Same thing happened after the GFC when the only place a medium to small business could get capital was via alt direct lending. Most of the major LO AM are aggressively building their capabilities. 

Not sure about exits but also not sure you would want to. This is/will be a real money maker for those involved for a long time. None of the fee compression you see in funds and EFTs.

 

Sit varies by shop and location but PIMCO does pay well. Their path is Analyst, Associate, Senior Associate, Strategist, VP, SVP, EVP.

I would go to Glassdoor and look at ranges. VPs are all making above 250k. At SVP and EVP, it gets pretty interesting (mid to high 6 figures). I know a kid who is 3 yrs in (from UG) and on the strat team. Will likely make 150k-175k. I think he's a Senior Assoc.
