Asset management entry level roles?
What do entry level hires (ie straight out of college) typically do in asset management at major banks like JPM or GS? Also, I've heard that the hours are a lot more manageable compared to IB, and that the base salary is comparable, although bonuses are typically lower. Are those assumptions correct? The final thing I wanted to ask was, how competitive is getting an AM role compared to IB out of college? From what I've heard, there seems to be fewer AM seats, but also fewer people applying for those seats - is that the case?
Thank you guys so much for your time!
It's competitive. The hours depend on what you're doing in AM. PE is AM. HF is AM. LO is AM. Within AM there are sales teams, product teams, research teams, risk teams etc.
You're asking the equivalent of like "what do people do in banks". AM is an industry, not one job.
Could you go into detail on these?
No. Go do some research.
Mind if pm you? Ive been looking into this space as of late and have a few thoughts I'd like to get your take on.
Okay
