Asset Management vs Tech Sales prospects

Hey everyone,

Class of 2022 soon to be cal graduate here trying to figure out what my next move is. The goal is to make money with a good lifestyle now but also have serious earning potential later in life. I will probably move to San Francisco and I have narrowed down on 2 possible career options, Asset Management and tech sales. Reason being I'm interested in finance but also in tech and like the idea of being in a disruptive industry. I understand that this is the finance forum and may be biased but how do both of these fields compare in:

  1. Comp now and comp down the line (very important)

  2. Lifestyle

  3. "Prestige" (I know, I know)

  4. Career path. On the tech side it's hard to nail down what comes after AE, is it director? how easy/possible is that? In Asset management there seem to be a bunch of different paths as well. What do they look like and what do they pay?

Does being in San Francisco affect the decision here?
