Blackrock Sales Associate GCG

Anyone have any insight on this position? It'd be dealing with retail SMA's. I have a final round coming up and I have to make a 15 minute investment pitch. Other than that, anything else to be prepared for?

Also, any ideas on comp or structure of the division? Any room for internal movement to the institutional side of the business?

Thanks

You should know about how Blackrock has been intensely increasing their marketing. They want to become a household name, which is why they have commercials and daily ads in the WSJ. Retail is also the area in which they are pushing for this fiscal year. Definitely read this if you haven't already: http://bit.ly/wpV0Bx Blackrock has a culture of wanting to keep talent within the company, so people move around the company rather frequently. There is a culture of staying at least two years in your position before moving on, but my Associate was only in his position for a year before moving to a different division. As it is anywhere else, it's all about your aptitude and contacts; however, BLK really does allow for a lot of movement. It's hard to get in, but when people do, they usually stay and move around.

I definitely agree with there being lots of internal mobility. With that being said, don't expect movement from GCG to PMG or PAG. You'll primarily be staying within GCG (Pensions, DC, iShares). A move to the institutional side is entirely within your reach, though not within the first 2 years generally speaking. You'll be working alongside institutional so you'll have tons of networking opportunities.

I'm a first year analyst and I make 70,000/year without benefits/bonus. I assume that it's relatively similar in GCG, sorry I don't know more about GCG comp.
