Entry into Hedge Funds after CFA
Hi everyone. I am an IB analyst in India and have cleared all three levels of CFA. I want to get into the hedge fund industry, specifically in Macro or Distressed Debt strategies.
I am not interested in PE, VC, IB or consulting jobs. I have a passion for capital markets.
Most of these Hedge Funds are abroad and I have no connections with people who work in this industry.
Currently contemplating a Masters which would land me a job in one of these fields, or gain experience and keep applying as I have completed my three levels of CFA.
My dream company would be Bridgewater Associates, but I heard they only hire from colleges in the States. I would also love to work as a Fixed income analyst or a currency strategist in a HF.
A good and interesting masters course would also be appreciated, something new or regarded very good in the finance or hedge fund industry. I 'm not very keen on following the typical path.
List of Masters in my mind(typical scene): 1. MBA 2. MFE 3. Msc. Eco 4. Ms. Fin
Thank you in advance for any input!
Hi dkumar95, hope I can help. Do any of these links cover what you're looking for:
Hope that helps.
Getting a masters alone will not help you much. You need to network and show that you are truly passionate about investing.
Read all the investment books, invest on your own (or have a mock portfolio if you dont have any cash), network, start write pitches and doing your own research, etc.
Would read this article on the steps to take to land a job at a hedge fund.
