Fixed Income AM Career Path Question
I'm a rising sophomore interested in doing FI AM down the line. I am wondering about career paths to getting there. Currently studying math and econ, and can foresee myself doing a masters in stats or MBA to transition into AM. Right now I've been thinking about doing DCM --> masters in stats or MBA --> FI AM. I think DCM sounds interesting but not sure if it would lead to good exit outcomes and I wouldn't want to stay there past analyst years. Does this path make sense? Any other paths I should be considering/what have you seen is a common path (if any) to a role in FI AM?

Also a rising sophomore, no need for stats in AM. You're not looking to get into quant strategies. Also, DCM is a product group within IBD. DCM is just a subsect of FI AM that you could specialize in. On the IBD side, you provide, and on the AM side, you analyze.
